Hi folks, do you ever look back at the first few days after joining a new community? It’s a lot like walking out into the playground on your first day at a new school. Where do you go? Who are you going to get along with? Are there any rules you should know so you don’t get in trouble? Fortunately, online communities don’t have to be quite so intimidating! We can signpost information, provide dedicated start pages, and you can lurk for as long as you like before anyone even knows you’re there.
We want to know how we can help new members feel ready to create their first reply, discussion, or bounty submission. What do you wish you knew when you joined a new community (Just About or otherwise)? Did you watch others posting and emulate that? Did you read through the articles and help documents? Did you just dive in headfirst and learn as you go?
Let us know, and tell us if there’s ever been a feature, resource, or interaction that helped you learn how to interact.
