We’re nearly at the end of a huge year for Just About. In 2024, we signed four new brand partners and bolted on a ton of major features to the platform like some kind of content megazord. And it feels like every other week, you folks blow us away with the quality and passion we see in what you make.
It is, genuinely, a near-daily delight to us on the content team to share your work with the rest of the JA staff and say things like ‘look what they’ve done this time!!’ and it makes us all feel more certain than ever that we’re building something special here. We hope you feel the same way, even if progress sometimes takes two steps forward and one back.
We're taking a short break for the holidays, but don’t worry - at least one person will be 'on call' every day to hang out, check the moderation queue, and most importantly, award your submissions! There will be a platform payout as usual at the end of the month, and then we're back full-time on January 6.
Holiday fun on Just About
That means this’ll be our last major JAJA update of 2024, and the plan was to offer a showcase of our holiday-themed rewards - as I’m sure you’ve noticed, almost every community has launched at least one such reward to give you all plenty of fun things to do!
In rounding them all up, though, I’ve been struck by just how many rewards, festive or otherwise, there are on the platform right now. Between the holiday rewards and our new evergreen format, which means rewards rarely finish until every prize is claimed, there are more rewards on Just About now than ever before. Looks like those feed filters came just in time!
The below is a list of only our festive-themed rewards, and it’s already so long as to flout all sorts of best practices for internet publishing. Promise you’ll stick with us, ok?
Again: these are just the holiday rewards. They aren't even the majority of rewards on Just About right now (scroll the platform-wide rewards feed to get a sense of that). And there are even more scheduled to publish during the break, so keep checking in - I promise you won't be short of things to do.
So we’ve pretty much hit the point where there are so many opportunities on the platform that they can’t easily be listed in one place. That contains a challenge of discoverability, but that challenge is:
Solvable, and already on our agenda for 2025;
A good problem to have, as it’s emerged from us signing more partners and tweaking our rewards to maximise your opportunities to win; and
A necessary one to have, as we continue to grow the platform. Next year, we'll sign more partners, offer more rewards, and tackle more challenges.
