The best SMITE 2 montages submitted by our community of veteran players are a perfect example of how the game can shine even in these early Alpha days. Montages are primarily used to show off high-skill gameplay as they're essentially highlight reels, but with flashy editing and energising music to make them even more entertaining.
The montages that feature here are the best of the best: top-level gameplay from some of the most skilled players in SMITE 2 right now including content creators and esports casters. Here are the best SMITE 2 montages from the Just About SMITE 2 community.
1st place: Tdog
Judged to have made the best SMITE 2 combat montage of all the submissions, and taking home $50 for their efforts, was Tdog. This montage focuses solely on Ymir and from the very start, the editing is top notch. Dramatic music introduces Ymir with his frosty beard, glowing red eyes, and huge, intimidating club, before the montage gets straight into the whacking, with plenty of hits timed to the music. The three-minute runtime is full of impressive gameplay, illustrating exactly why Ymir is one of the best gods in the game right now.
2nd place: Empen
If there's something strange, in your battlegrounds, who ya gonna call? Baron Samedi! Where Tdog's entry focused on Ymir, Empen's is all about Baron Samedi, with an excellently thematic soundtrack to match. There are plenty of impressive Baron kills in here because after all, bustin' makes you feel good, not to mention the end of the montage being perfectly synced to the outro.
Empen explained they spent around 50 hours in-game collecting enough footage, and it took three hours to edit the video (plus 45 minutes to choose the song). Time well spent!
3rd place: ChrisTDickson
In third place we have ChrisTDickson, a SMITE 2 content creator known for his high-skill gameplay and ability to turn the tides on an opponent when the odds are stacked against him. His SMITE 2 montage, titled "SUCCESSOR", features gameplay from a variety of gods and every clip is completed with his reaction, which is often the cherry on top. As he often lets his defeated foes know, ChrisTDickson is just better.
Honourable mention: Feddboii
One montage that narrowly missed out on the top three came from Feddboii who submitted a video focused solely on Anubis. With a bouncy dubstep soundtrack and plenty of quick edits, this montage is a shining example of just how powerful Anubis can be in the right hands.
Honourable mention: Cloggedbean
Cloggedbean's SMITE 2 montage is closer to a minitage as it comes in under 60 seconds, but what it lacks in length it makes up for in the quality of the clips on display. Bellona, Nu Wa, and Susano all feature in a short but sweet set of clips with some upbeat music in the background.
Honourable mention: NotAValveGame
NotAValveGame explains they didn't spot this bounty until it was close to finishing so didn't have time to put together a proper montage, but a promo video they made for another upload was eligible as it features plenty of kills and is set to music. It's only 22 seconds long, but those are some pretty sweet Mordred ults - and you can learn how to do the same if you follow our SMITE 2 Mordred guide.
Honourable mention: BlaiseMcBaine
Finally, we have BlaiseMcBaine, whose submission isn't technically a montage, but the clip itself was impressive enough to award. As Fenrir, he leaps in to steal the Gold Fury kill in the first half, then does exactly the same to steal the Fire Giant, followed by another Gold Fury steal in the final section. Cheeky, and incredibly satisfying.
