So I was singing this in the car and my son corrected me

The line goes from Sia's "Unstoppable" song

"I'm a Porsche with no brakes"

I thought the line was

"I'm a fortress with no brains"

So yeh, I got schooled by a 9yr old :)

There's one that comes to mind immediately because it has a few...

Enter Shikari's 'Sorry your'e not a winner' is my pick, with lines such as "fat guys nose bleeds" and "do you remember my white dog bone?"

Those will forever be the actual lyrics if you ask me.

Believe it or not, back in 2006-2007, my friends and I were already playing around with misheard lyrics! Sadly, most of our creations were taken down – it turns out intellectual property owners aren't too fond of their work being part of viral, humorous videos. Our playful edits included songs from Nightwish, Lordi, and Linkin Park, but the most memorable were those of Cannibal Corpse, offering endless possibilities for amusement.

Wondering how we did this 17 years ago? The answer is surprisingly simple: Microsoft PowerPoint! We crafted presentations featuring a blend of internet images and our own legendary MS Paint drawings.

For a taste of our fun, check out this example:

A favourite of mine has got to be a line from "What's My Age Again" by Blink 182. Mark Hoppus (Bass player and vocals) has his own Discord community and there was a debate recently about whether the lyric was "I wore cologne to get the feeling right" or "I walk alone to get the feeling right". It was a whole thing and people were vehemently arguing for one side of the other. Marks take on the debate? "If you think it is 'walk alone' your a FAKE fan" yet people still were debating back and forth. I always thought it was pretty simple and was "I wore cologne" I didn't think there was a debate or a question around it, but here we are debating in 2024 about a song that was released... many many moons ago.

In REM’s The Sidewinder Sleeps Tonight, it sounds like the chorus is “calling Jamaica”. Couldn’t work out what was being sung so had to look it up. Apparently it’s “Call me when you try to wake her up”.

I knew it couldn't be, but it definitely sounds like he says "my willy stinks" at 2:27

Hahaha as a big fan of the pumpkins I'm not afraid to say I sung it as "my willy stings"

For years as a child, I thought the lyrics were "I want to rock and roll all nite and part of every day." I apparently really wanted to be a responsible partier and only do it part of the day.

And the lyric will stay that way the older I get!

Hands Like Houses - Half-Hearted

Timestamped: "Something deep inside me's always farted (farted, farted, farted)."

Needless to say those aren't the real lyrics, but they're certainly what I heard the first time I listened to the song.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nfk6sCzRTbMOk, this song got played a lot around my house when I was growing up and I have to say I thought Paul Young was just singing about someone being prepared whenever they went on a trip when he sang:

"Every time you go away, you take a piece of meat with you"

Childhood me thought, that's smart, they might get hungry.

For years i thought the lyrics to Golden Brown by the Stranglers was: 'never a frown with Gordon Brown' instead of 'Golden Brown'.

For those not in the UK or aware of British politics , Gordon Brown was PM and is notoriously boring.

In college I actually wrote an entire parody on that very topic.

"Gordon Brown, face like a bum Takes his hands, with my cash he runs..." something along those lines, it was many, many years ago.

In Daughtry's "Over You" my mom thought "spending all of these years" was "spinning all the dishes." Her rationale was that he was "spinning a lot of plates" in order to get over her. Pretty phenomenal.

I always thought the lyrics in Africa by Toto were:

There's nothing that a hundred men on mars could ever do

Even though I know they’re wrong I still sing these lyrics!

Most of my childhood was about misheard lyrics, since I didn't know English so it was hard to understand most songs I was listening to. Later it became very funny when elderly people were requesting songs in the radio completely oblivious of the original wording. One prime example is Tina Turner's What's Love Got To Do With It. Which most people referred to as "the song about Václav" Because a Czech name makes more sense then a couple of English words, right?
