Mine would have to be Meta Ray Bans

https://www.ray-ban.com/uk/customise/rb-3025-aviator-large-metal-sunglasses?mostSoldSize=RBCP%2058

You guys may remember when google glass game out, essentially smart glasses. I had high hopes for these in 2016 but they really died out. Whilst at John Lewis I saw the Meta Ray Bans glasses, this technology is very cool because they are smart glasses which you can take photos with, take videos and even video chat and live stream! They also have a safety light which turns on so people around you know the device is recording

I just think it's cool that I could stream my POV life on a pair of glasses and someone else can watch. I can record an interaction meeting someone at a comic con without holding a camera. I think it really brings a cool new layer of ideas with videos!

I could record tennis games I play with my POV and watch them back to analyse how I could have done better. I think there is some massive potential for this technology

Makster's avatar

I have one of these! But they're a bit too heavy to be wearing out in the sun and if I'm chilling with some Pims I'd rather have my actual Ray Bans on

Without meaning to sound like a basic bi***, I am planning of getting my hands on the Dyson Hair Wrap!

So I currently have a total of 7 different hair tools all taking up loads of space everywhere which consists of

  1. Dyson hairdryer (tbf I got this 7 years ago for my birthday before the airwrap came out)

  2. Curling wand

  3. Hair straightener

  4. Blow dry rotating brush

  5. Crimper

  6. Heated hair brush

  7. Heated rollers

So that’s a lot of tools - the air wrap basically eliminates me needing all these tools and puts all 7 in to 1 with changeable Attachments. It also comes in a really nice storage box so you can easily store it away. Out of the list above, I’ll probably only keep my heated rollers and my Dyson hairdryer.

I did do a lot of comparing to this and the Shark Flexistyle, they both produce very similar results and the utilisation of air to style hair is much safer. The main difference is the price (Dyson is more), but I found the Dyson do bigger attachments that work better with longer hair.

For now, I'm definitely saving for the Nintendo Switch 2, which I'm expecting to see in Q4 this year.

The first version, running on a very old chip, still delivered amazing experiences like Animal Crossing and Zelda TOTK.

And I think game developers and players will be very happy to get their hands on new tech.

Sadly, I can't share any info or pictures, as there are only some leaks and rumors.

As my videos are fairly big (10s of GB) and my raw footage is also huge (100s of GB per video), I need a better storage solution than my single 2TB Samsung T5 SSD. That is why I wish to get the insane (and insanely expensive) Sabrent Rocket Gen 4 8TB NVMe SSD and put it in an external M.2 enclosure. The fact that so much storage can fit on essentially a chewing gum stick is still insane for me, but with it I should never have to worry about running low on space again, and allow me to have more projects going at once!

Sturmer's avatar

I highly recommend reconsidering that decision. SSDs over 2TB are currently very expensive. In fact, for the price of an 8TB SSD, you could get a whole NAS server with similar or even greater capacity, using classic HDDs for storage and NVMe for caching. Or for extra $200 you can get a whole SDD NAS and x4 NVMEs in RAID5 mode which will provide you 12 GB of storage with x3 reading speed boost and 1 drive fail tolerance.

With classic HDDs you can easily get 10GB boosted storage with 1-2 disk fault tolerance under $1000.

Besides, keeping all your data on a single large drive is risky—putting all your eggs in one basket means a bigger potential loss. I have several reviews for network storages and plan to share them here after Gamescom if you want to learn more.

avrona's avatar

This is purely for actually recording onto, connected to the camera, not longer-term storage.

Sturmer's avatar

In that case, you do not need to overpay for PCIe 4.0, I do not know which camera you have, but even Blackmagic 12K DCI at 5:1 40fps needs speeds like 940 MB/s. Unless you have something like Ursa which can record 240fps in 4k lol

Most cameras I know are USB 3.1 Gen 1 which is 5 Gbit, or ~500MB/s, meaning you can use a regular sata3 SSD to write directly to the drive. SAMSUNG 870 QVO price is about $650 which is twice cheaper.

When I can afford it I plan on getting an Rog Ally X

I plan on getting this as my travel gaming device as it should be good enough to play the majority of games that I have.

Ninja Creami

I've been wanting one of these for a while and I'm really hoping to be able to get one soon! It's an ice cream maker but instead of churning the ice cream over an ice bath, you freeze the base for 24 hours and then put it in the creami when you want your ice cream and it does the rest.

It's based on the Pacojet that has been used in restaurants for the last 30 years but has recently not had it's patent renewed so Ninja have been able to make their own versions. Essentially its a blender combined with a hydraulic press that blitzed your frozen base into something resembling ice cream/sorbet.

I'm saving up for the Pioneer DJ DDJ-FLX4 a starter DJ controller. I started on and off with virtual DJ over the years but recently I started taking things more seriously, after some research I think its a good option to start with until I actually need something better. Sadly I'm still not there yet, still saving up monies :)

I'm planning to buy a simple yet essential tech device: a power bank. While it might seem like old news in 2024, technology has advanced significantly, and modern power banks have evolved to meet higher demands. My cameras now require much more power, and my old power banks are no longer sufficient.

I’ve been researching the market with a few key criteria: at least 75 watt-hours capacity and airplane safe. My top pick is the Shargeek 140, which originated from a successful Kickstarter campaign. Although it's not the cheapest option, the good news is that you can get one quickly from their shop.

Once I receive it, I plan to drop a detailed review and conduct some testing. Stay tuned if you’re interested in this type of device!

I’m ultimately working towards getting a PS5 like many others, although I still love my PS4 and it’s still perfect for creating content, with the announced release of an updated Until Dawn on PS5 I just had to set my sights on one. Not to mention there are plenty of other games that have come out on PS5 before now that I would love to try to, but they are just bonuses honestly

After doing some research I gave in and will be buying the FFXIV edition Secretlab chair, just waiting for my credit card billing cycle to refresh, so I can push the purchase to the next month. I really like the idea that you can pay on their website in 3 instalments, makes it more manageable with such an expensive purchase.

I wanted one of their charges for a while now after trying one at my friend's. It was very comfortable for me while I constantly struggle with getting the various office chair settings right, something just doesn't align no matter which one I try.

The cat seems to be more excited about the box though:

Hoping to pick up A PSVR2 in the next month or 2. It hasn't quite taken off the way Sony had envisioned but I personally really enjoy a well done VR gaming experience and the more powerful unit (with far less wires than the original PSVR) is an exciting proposition!

Shovel's avatar

I’d go for an oculus over a PS VR. The games are a bit cheaper and they’re constantly working towards updating existing tech. For the price I feel like the meta is better for your money.

It's something small but a 3DS USB charging cable.

I've been getting into 3DS gaming again especially since I'm back on the road travelling between to see family, friends, and for work so being able to have it charged and ready to go (like all tech), is a must.
However when I first bought the 3DS it didn't come with a charging cable! Incredibly surprising, disappointing, and a way of nickel-and-diming the customer.

The 3DS charger I ended up getting was a 3-Pin straight to mains outlet plug.

However as tech evolves I think all of us would rather we move away from these plugs and instead have USB sockets for the most common items that need charging: phone, power bank, headphones etc.

So I'm also going to update my 3DS set up with an USB 3DS charger.

Lanah Tyra's avatar

USB charging is so great! And it would solve a lot of the different plug problems when travelling around the world. Most new built or refurbished hotels now have USB sockets on the wall, so you only need the cable and don't have to worry about other adapters.

Makster's avatar

I've moved from the Apple one USB out plug to the 2-3 USB ports per plug.

3 has been optimum for me as I can have

  • One for my phone

  • One for my partner's phone

  • One for external battery/Apple Watch/ 3DS

Now if we can get away from those plugs that direct the USB directly downwards rather than outwards/parallel to the plug...

Lanah Tyra's avatar

I hate the UK style plugs so much as you can only plug them in one way and get no chance to position the cable in a comfortable way. On extension leads they also seem to be in a very silly positions so sometimes you can't use all sockets. I prefer the European plugs as they just have 2 pins so you can at least flip them around, and most cases the cord just comes directly outwards.

The only good thing in the UK plugs is that they are flat so are better at getting hidden behind furniture... but why is the cable going downwards?

The next thing I plan to get is the PC Adapter for the PSVR2. I am tired of fighting the software Meta continues to screw up for linking my Quest, so I'm really hoping the PSVR2 adapter can do the job to replace it as my PC headset. (and also I can wear my glasses with the PSVR2, I can't with the Quest). Only a couple more weeks and we'll see how well it works.

I really hope it works. And cools down enough to actually USE it.

Slow Juicer but i don´t know which one.

They start with 50 Bucks and the Gastr Version goes 1,500 Bucks.
I get which you don´t want to have high temps.. etc.

But "Slow Jucier" sounds like a buzzword.

But i want fresh juice!!!!!!!! from anything

Only because my phone is not doing well. When people try to call me they here echo's. Was on the droid. I usually jump between the two depending on how I feel I suppose. Back to the Iphone I go.

I'm moving in a few months. Planning it has been a bit of a pain but it's also given me opportunities to replace some furniture I've been using for years, such as my fairly small desk for my PC. It can barely fit two screens and my speakers and is made entirely of wood.

I want to use this chance to get a muuuuch bigger one that is height adjustable. Not only will I be able to put everything on the table without it feeling cluttered immediately, but I'll also try and squeeze in some more standing up and less sitting down.

It's not the most radical piece of tech and there are quite a few options. I haven't decided yet but it'll probably be something like this. Lots of space, some height presets I can enable with the press of a button and simple but sturdy legs. I hope it'll all work out.

Wait, does this count as tech? It has buttons and uses electricity. It supports my tech, so in my mind that counts. 😆

Oooh you should look in to the Secret Labs Magnus range. The adjustable desks are INSANITY!

Sounds a little expensive but I'll check them out, thanks!

As my gaming laptop decided to brick its self I have decided to get a Steam deck.

I plan on getting the 1TB OLED model to get the most out of it.

Iv gone for this over another laptop or desktop as I only ever used it for gaming and I hate sitting at a desk. This just feels like the natural progression to somthing more designed for gaming.

This particular model comes with;

1280 x 800 HDR OLED display with premium anti-glare etched glass

7.4" Diagonal display size

up to 90Hz refresh rate

Wi-Fi 6E

50Whr battery; 3-12 hours of gameplay (content-dependent)

45W Power supply with 2.5m cable

Carrying case with removable liner

Steam profile bundle, exclusive startup movie and keyboard theme

My husband just got a steam for his birthday and it’s such a game Changer for gaming!

It finally happened. I clicked Reply instead of Submit. Thank you Paul.

Im sure it counts, however you seem to have replied to the post rather then submitting an entery.

0ffworld's avatar

It was going to happen one of these days, haha. Thank you, Paul.

Which standing desk do you have in mind? And how big? I'm debating between 110cm and 144cm in length

0ffworld's avatar

The one in my picture is actually 180cm. I've got 120cm now but it's not enough for my screens plus the speakers. I want the new one to be able to fit them, plus my PC tower. So I'm gonna get one that's as wide as possible.
