I think they will put games on other consoles too, I hope they allow cross-play for them. I prefer Xbox to anything else mostly due to the controller, but a few exclusives as well. If they continue in the console market as well as games, I'll still go to Xbox as my primary console. If they phase out of consoles in the next several years, I'll most likely go to PlayStation when I need an upgrade.

It's over... XBox is going to fizzle out like how Sega fizzled out the Dreamcast.

5 years from now, MS will be fully third party.

And to think that MS started sooooo strong this generation.

Going to be interesting. I'm sure there will be a lot of news come out of it. I suspect though there will be a lot of corporate speak that leaves things open to interpretation and generates more questions than it answers.

Very odd update that was, basically just confirmed 4 games will be coming to Playstation/other platforms but refused to name them, then straight after the 4 were named by "sources" on various websites.

To me it seems like the same strategy that Sony has when it comes to PC releases for them, but applied to PlayStation releases of Xbox published games. Essentially games that need a big audience and community to work both from a business and playerbase point of view, (multiplayer only or free to play) in the longer term will release on other platforms from the off (or with not a lot of time between them), Single player games after a period of exclusivity (say 12 months) will also then launch on other platforms.

That's my interpretation of the practical implications of the corporate business speak anyway. As predicted though it raised more questions than it answered.

It's looking bleak, not many reasons to keep my Xbox. I agree with Phil, they lost the worst generation to lose, they'd have need to do much, much better than Playstation this gen just to even the numbers, but that didn't materialize. Never happy to see one less competitor in the fight

I was very confused as the base of it was like Dave said, 4 games, here you go, get going!

I wouldn't say I like platform limitations for the games. The same problem started when every major publisher decided to make his 'own' launcher - end customers hate that.

I hope each platform will just set its quality standards and if your games meet then - you get in.

here’s my take on it, as I don’t wanna type a story here lol - My Thoughts On The Xbox Business Update 2024

https://youtu.be/bNKIciGDPVQ

just a closing thought, I feel too many are looking Short term, saying oh it’s only a few games etc BUT if this makes Microsoft money you can bet more and more games will make the jump. What I fear is this dilutes the reasons to own an Xbox console or Xbox to keep making consoles and they gradually shift to a full 3rd party offering, which I think Microsoft wants, it’s in there name, they are software. They want a full digital software game offering to us consumers so they can maximise profit,.This is what I do not want, I want more physical consoles and hardware whatever that may be from the big 3 and more pushing each other to make the best hardware and games at the best price for the consumer. They all get lazy, greedy and complacent without competition. Microsoft’s number 1 priority that would help them in every product or Xbox service they offer is make repeatedly good games. They have not done this in years. This is why they are struggling, every part of Xbox ties back to people having good games to play, and fingers crossed there million studios is about to deliver. The only one who gets pass marks is playground with forza horizon games which have been unreal, the rest have been mid to ok. They just change this asap, and deliver on multiple consecutive occasions. Should just say I have all the consoles and play everywhere, I want them all too succeed and to deliver the best value to us gamers. End of.
