Is the Elite Dangerous community musically talented? Let's find out! We've got $290 of prizes to give away for this reward, including $90 for the first-place prize! We'll let you judge whether you want to make your song epic or funny, original or a parody. Musical instruments are strongly encouraged but aren't necessary. You're allowed to collaborate with others and encouraged to do so, but we'll leave the sharing of the prize up to you.

Talking of prizes, we've got a wide range available for this one, so we'd say even if you're not the greatest musician in the world, give it go! You've got three months!

Important: Generative AI is strictly forbidden in this reward. That includes for both the writing of the lyrics and the performance of the song. Songs suspected of being AI generated may be rejected, so if you think there's a chance your song being mistakenly identified as such, send us evidence of it being created.

I created this track over the course of a few days, using more than 100 layered effects, foley recordings, and atmospheric sounds directly sampled from Elite: Dangerous. Even the kick drum and much of the percussion are crafted from ship and HUD audio!

From there, I built a quirky, original electro tune using a range of VST instruments and a careful arrangement in Ableton Live, all fully themed around the Elite universe.

My goal was simple: to create something that fans of the game would instantly recognize and enjoy BUT also create something out of left-field.

If you’ve played Elite: Dangerous, you’ll hear it in the textures, in the rhythms, in the wormholes of sound. It’s full of little earworms made from the galaxy itself.

Here's a song I wrote and performed in the last couple of days about Elite Dangerous. I've titled the song "It's Dangerous" which I think is kind of self explanatory.

Whenever I write a song I always write the chorus first. The main reason being, if the chorus is no good then song is no good and I should scrap it and start again. The chorus is the main part after all that gets sung over and over.

I played every instrument on the recording except for the drums which was a pattern I found. I tried to make everything sound as best I could with effects etc.

I used Cockos Reaper to record everything as well as mastering and creating the video, as I did it all at once:

I recently bought a personal license for it as I use that program heaps.
