Oh this one is dead easy for me

On the third day of playing, I upgraded to a Coercer, I was starting to be able to clear high-sec anomalies easily, and in terms of new player ISK I was doing very well.

So I was pottering around from system to system, not paying attention to system security status, and jumped into a 0.4 system...

Needless to say the six GankaGeddons sat there, made very short work of me. I was then back in my home station, very, very quickly..

Moral of the story, always check the system security status when pottering around as a new player :)

I made an account and character in December 2023 to play Eve Vanguard because I played Dust 514 years ago. I incorrectly assumed the progression system was similar to Dust's and that I would be accumulating SP passively as soon as I made my Eve character. 3 months later after having bought Omega several times, I checked on my character and realized I was still at around ~500k sp. After talking to a friend, he broke the news to me that I have to queue up skills and start training them to gain SP. I probably should have paid attention to the tutorial or watched a beginner video.

In that case, it may be helpful to contact CCP support. They may be able to get you some unallocated skill points for the Omega time. Simply explain as above and hope. Surely worth a try.

Good luck!

The Triglavian System appeared in EVE:Online. Didn't have my standing fix, neither looked deeply into it. This was the time when the Trig Gate Guns “insta-lock”.

So i jumped the gate and started to warp + cloak. Blab, Buzzard down!

F**k, need to safe POD. panic… Warping to Station. (no insta dock bookmark)

BLAB, (High-Crystal) Pod down.

WTF, what happend?!

Support Ticket open. Works as designed. Support ticket closed.

Some time later a new Patch got deployed. -> Triglavian Insta-lock capability nerfed.

Damn it!

i left all my stuff at a different station and couldn't find the station for 3 weeks... eventually figured out you can just track assets.

Not Reading the Rules or Tutorial Thoroughly: As a new player I jumped right into an Eve game without fully understanding the rules or mechanics. This can lead to confusion and mistakes, such as missing key strategies, or not utilizing their Plane abilities effectively. I recommend perhaps taking the time to learn the basics of the game before jumping in.

Hi Fras_Shoyo

You'll notice that we've rejected your submission to this bounty. A few of your bounty submissions - such as this one - indicate to us that you're entering bounties with AI-generated answers on topics that you don't have personal experience with. Just About is all about rewarding authentic fans, so these bounty entries don't match our ethos, nor do they offer real value to the community.

We kindly ask you to reconsider your approach to bounty entries and only enter bounties that are of genuine interest to you. Doing so with higher quality, personal entries will greatly increase your chance of being rewarded.

Similarly, while we don't have a 'no-AI' policy, we will reject entries that appear to be AI generated with no sign of meaningful human input. If you would like to use AI, we recommend writing out your bounty entry manually and then using AI to translate and/or refine your answer. That way, it's your thoughts, feelings, and memories, and AI is just helping to express them. If you would like to learn more about our approach to AI, you can find it here. Thank you.

Hello Alex, I apologize and thank you for the notice, but I did not use AI, it was my personal problem about EVE because I first played EVE and was invited with friends who played EVE, because I sniped the tutorial in EVE online and became a burden on the team, maybe this is like AI but it is not AI, because I also use Translate maybe that makes my words like AI, I am also wrong because I did not read what the bounty asked for, please forgive me.

Hi Fras_Shoyo, thank you for getting back to us. No apologies are necessary. We appreciate you clarifying that you haven't relied on AI to generate this bounty submission. However, we have seen examples of this behaviour on other bounties, such as this one. At any rate, to maximise the value of your posts and the chances of you winning prizes, I'd recommend reading bounty descriptions very carefully as well as adding more details and examples in your future bounty submissions ✌️

I made a video about my first solo kill in Eve, which kind of sums up my noob experience.

This is ace; not many first mistakes have a happy ending. I love the narration style too, but I can't quite put my finger on what it reminds me of.

When I started in 2013, I did grind level 2 missions with a destroyer until I could afford a mining barge. You can probably already see it coming...

I sat in some highsec belt and eventually went afk for "just a minute". Well, some distraction happened and I ended up being afk for some hours. When I came back all I had was a wreck and my pod sitting beside it. The barge had died to highsec belt-rats, not even gankers. To make it worse, I had also broken the first rule of Eve: Don't undock what you can't afford to lose. This barge was most of the ISK I had at the time, and the idea of going back to level 2 missions with my Coercer was so demotivating that I quit Eve.

But after a while I gave Eve another shot, and that's when it stuck. Nowadays I try to shoo new people away from mining, hoping to spare them that experience.

Fell for a billion ISK giveaway in Jita local chat. Followed the steps, seemed legit. Weeks later, nada. Hope died, repairs drained my wallet. Giveaway a scam, dream ship dust. Lesson learned the hard way.

Hello! It looks like you've entered as a reply rather than a submission. Hit the 'submit to this bounty' if you'd like to be considered for a prize.

P.S. to maximise your chances, you'll want to add a few more details or a little storytelling flair. o7

well till this day it hurts me

i have been a pretty new player back then and i got invited in a random corp - the owner was from the same country as me so i though "why not"

later he wanted me to try out joining the corp in wormhole life, i did want to do that but i didnt want to come unprepared

i farmed the current event (it was rouge drone event if i remamber correctly) in order to get enough isk for at least 2 months of omega (i am completely free to play player) and hell ... i meanaged to get enough for one month in luqid isk and i had another 2 bil worth of loot ready

however i saw how much i would be loosing by selling in amarrso i decided that for the first time i would leave amarr space and try getting the loot to the jita everyones talking about. big load ... gonna need iteron mark V for that i though

so i did take it and loaded it with 2 bil worth of loot and went to 50 jump long jurney in it from amarr to jita ... in an unfitted iteron

thats how i got introduced to uedama and high sec ganks, this loss had cost me a great and about 1 year long struggle for omega - everything i made every month went to omega... thankfully i meanged to push through and i am doing good now.

i am i am sure never doing this again :D

Alex Sinclair's avatar

Ouch! That sounds like a painful loss, albeit one a lot of newer players can relate to. Where's a gank-survival masterclass when you need it?

Limal's avatar

Autopiloting in Uedama, undocking from Jita 4-4 without a bookmark or afk mining in Poinen? Nope, i think my biggest mistakes related to NOT taking actions or.missed opportunities. Plex when it was 1 mil, not 5 mil. Or gold monocle when they were for 5b on a market, not 40!

There are many other examples when i wanted to buy or sell something and then for some reasons actions were not taken.

MacGybo's avatar

My first mistake as a new player was to join a corp because a recruiter pressed me into it. It turned out to be a technique to just impose high taxes on unknowing new players who hadn't got their heads around the game yet. They kept changing corp roles on me so I couldn't leave.

I ended up having to shoot other corp members before they let me out. It left a sour taste in my mouth.

The lesson is, do a little research on a corp / alliance before you join it.

Brother Grimoire's avatar

The biggest mistake I made as a new player was accepting an offer to join a corporation too soon.

This led to me being a clueless newbie in Nullsec before I was ever prepared to be there and it made everything a lot harder.

I've left it too late, I don't think I can type out my story in 3 minutes 🙁
