No surprises my pick is Pokemon, however I have gone back a generation to Sword and Shield for a Mewtwo Shiny Hunt. Alongside SwSh I have been diving head first back into Pokemon GO to prepare for next weeks Global GO Fest.

Away from AAA I have had the pleasure of gaining early access to an indie game called Gori: Cuddly Carnage that will be releasing in August. A very fun hack and slash game with vibes similar to Lollipop Chainsaw, Bayonetta and Deadpool.

Any luck with the Mewtwo shiny hunt?

Ford James's avatar

Wahey, congrats! What are you hunting for next?

Cherebi's avatar

Thank you! I think the next big major one will be Arceus in BDSP!

I've rediscovered my 3DS from moving home so I've been playing through some games that are on the virtual console including this old gem from the SNES.

There is a simplicity to these old RPGs that is really nostalgic. No running, no moving diagonally, just pixel art and text boxes. It's a comfort in the evenings to get tucked into bed with this game and a podcast in the background for 30 minutes before bed

I might need to pick this one up!

FFXIV enjoying the new expansion before my RL summer holiday.

After watching Platform32's stream a while back I've been dying to play Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun. Turns out the dying doesn't stop, but I suppose that's what I get for playing on Exterminatus ☠️

I love the taunt 'I will finish what Captain Titus has started'

Just a really nice easter egg to Space Marine

My old DS died a few years back but after finding a nice red one in a local charity shop I busted out my games again.

Its been so long I had to start some of them again so...

Any Destiny players in? I've been catching up after a long break since the Final Shape launched and it is excellent. Destiny has this infamous inconsistency between amazing expansions like Witch Queen and Forsaken and duds like Lightfall, and the Final Shape might be the best it's ever been - still working through the post-campaign content and haven't tackled the raid, but the campaign and the final Excision mission to beat the Witness are all incredible. Feels so good to have this kind of payoff after ten years.

Sea of thieves. Now it's available fully cross platform and with this season of Fortnite being one of the worst ones they have ever done (Reloaded mode has saved it), we decided to give it a go. Not keen on the main mode, but the safer seas mode with no PvP is good.

I've been playing Violet a lot recently just in the raids and trying to complete my Dex 😄

Ford James's avatar

How goes the Dex progress? I fell off Scarlet & Violet quite hard not long after launch, mostly due to the poor performance issues, but I'm tempted to give it another shot soon.

I finally gave Starfield a try. I don't get why there were so many complaints about it. I'm enjoying myself and it's a Bethesda game. I find myself just wandering all over and getting over-encumbered.

Pokemon.
I'm just now making it through the Expansion Pass for Scarlet.
Regulation G competitive is a lot of fun, and I'm proud to say my 8 year old attended his first practice tournament.

Ford James's avatar

Ayy that's brill, how did he do? I've always been casually interested in competitive Pokemon, but am still yet to dabble myself.

Melicien Tetro's avatar

It was my first tournament as well haha, never too old to try.

He was the only Junior in attendance, so he didn't make any wins. However, he was a great sport going from loss to loss with a smile. I think he did great.

After finishing a replay of Horizon Zero Dawn, I'm now playing Forbidden West for the first time.

(with a little First Descendant on the side)

Ford James's avatar

How is The First Descendant? I've seen it's immensely popular, but also heard mixed things!

I'm currently on my 2nd playthrough of Kena Bridge of Spirits. I beat it when it first came out and decided to revisit it on the 2nd hardest difficulty and only just found out they've added extra things in since I first played it! So that's a real joy to rediscover this gorgeous game.

Oh and it's on the Steam sale so treat yourself!

I knocked Alan Wake 2 on the head the other week, just finished Hogwarts Legacy a few days back. I'm now on God of War Ragnarok, not far in but enjoying it so far, making an active effort to clear all the games I've had on my backlog. Aiming to get to Elden Ring as soon as possible!

Boomer's avatar

God of War: Ragnarok is such an incredible game! How far in are you?

Scrbzy's avatar

I tried playing it B2B with the previous game but I think I needed a break because it plays very similar. Now I've had said break I'm enjoying it much more!

I'll have to check my hours played as I'm not sure, not much though, I just found a giant whale looking thing chained in a lake by Mimir when he was Odin's underling. In the process of freeing that poor boy right now :(

Boomer's avatar

That was such a heart breaking moment 😭 the whole of Alfheim is absolutely stunning though!

Scrbzy's avatar

I had actually noticed how much nicer Alfheim looks in this game, I suppose it makes sense as it's a newer game, but even the water looks miles better

Boomer's avatar

They also really nailed the feeling of being on another planet with the sulphurous deposits in Svartalfheim.
