The easter eggs I like the most in Elite Dangerous are the callbacks to the original game. The Coriolis starports, the ship designs, and even the cargo canisters are all very familiar. When I cash out my first Just reward next month I am definitely investing in a few wireframe bobbleheads for the dashboard of my Anaconda. The nostalgia is real!

I found this a while ago and have been curious since. There are two signatures on barrels and other objects in some stations - specially agricultural ones.

One seems to be 'Qian!' and I think it could reference Ben Quantock, a Senior Render Programmer (yeah, I did my research) - and maybe he left it there himself. The other looks like a hand signature.

Maybe I’m completely wrong and there’s nothing special about them - but I don’t think so, they’re too specific. Wish we could figure it out.

Furthermore, I believe most commanders have noticed this, but I love the fact that space legs, ships and SRVs aren’t the only way to get around in Elite Dangerous universe... we have trucks!

Elite Dangerous honours both players and non players usually in a form of memorial beacons. Some examples include:

Kathy McBrayer - A planet in the BD+26 2184 system named after a player’s late mother following a heartfelt request.

Leonard Nimoy Station - A starport in LHS 3006 renamed after the actor’s death in 2015.

Dove Enigma - A megaship in Colonia dedicated to a terminally ill player, CMDR DoveEnigma13, in 2018.

A source of comfort and interesting Easter eggs in the game “Elite Dangerous” 🥲🫡

One of the weirdest things I've discovered in Elite Dangerous is a system containing what is called a "Notable Stellar Phenomena". Apparently there are a lot of these systems that contain weird crystals just floating in space. I found them at Thraikuae XB-N C23-0:

No one seems to know why they're in the game or what they actually do.

I love the easter egg involving the moon in New Africa, it just spins at a ridiculous speed, clearly a mistake, but the community embraced the idea and the developers embraced the community haha, letting it stay in the game. To land on it, you have to get in front of it and let it get closer because your ship won't be fast enough, and in a few seconds you can see it translating around the planet.

Here's a video for anyone interested, this video is NOT MINE, I'm just crediting it to add information:

Another one: In the Vargerson system orbiting the planet Miranda II is the Coriolis Station Browncoat Refuge a reference to the classic Sci Fi TV show Firefly

Hutton Orbital and the “Free” Anaconda Joke

One player was swearing, that he got a free Anaconda ship, but it takes 'just' time to get one. Luckily, my ED AI Assistant Astronavia saved me 90 min of my life! Here are some details

System: Alpha Centauri
Location: Hutton Orbital Station

Its a long-running in-game myth claiming that Hutton Orbital gives away a free Anaconda (a quite expensive ship) to those who make the journey. This sounds reasonable, considering you need to travel for 90 minutes.

However, upon arrival, you’ll find… no free Anaconda! Instead, you can buy the Hutton Mug, a reference to the endurance required to make the trip.

Upon further digging, I found that the joke was supported by the developers and even referenced in official patch notes. Some legends say, there is an elite group of players, called The Hutton Truckers, but thats a story for the next time!

NEXUS737 - TANNHAUSER GATE

In the Aztlan system there is a star body called ‘Nexus737’ with a space station orbiting it called ‘Tannhauser Gate’... a clear and obvious reference to the movie Blade Runner.
