What's an underrated ship, one you don't suspect to be any good (or kill you)?
The Venture!
https://twitter.com/ChevronTheWolf/status/1913492119471128628When you’re ready to make your first ISK, many seek the Venture since it is literally gifted to you in training.
They use it, abuse it, maybe trash it as expendable, and drop it as soon as they can. You receive at least two or three Ventures in the course of utilizing your starting career agents at no cost, so by that logic, I believe many assume the ship is cheap, expendable, and not worth keeping around.
Why? Why such disrespect for such a capable nugget that is often overlooked in the face of greater mining vessels like the Mackinaw or Rorqual (and one that was paid homage to/ripped off by Star Citizen)?

I’ll tell you why the Venture is such a hearty and valuable little asset. The little miner that could may not be as prestigious as, say, a fleet of Mackinaws or the Orca, but in a quick pinch, the Venture is what will help you succeed if you’re going for those Daily Agency challenges and don’t want to spend half-an-hour pursuing them. Whereas you’ll lumber through the station undock corridor and asteroid belts in a larger and more cumbersome Mackinaw or even the Skiff, and burn minutes as your strip miner cycle burns down a rock, the Venture’s agility and fast warp will have you from undock-to-belt in literal seconds. Coupled with its 60-second mining laser cycle time, and you’ll have a daily Agency challenge of mining 2,000 units of ore complete in literally one cycle, in one minute. If time is money, the Venture is a sure bet to save you that time so you can make your money elsewhere.
Even for combat, a fleet of Ventures can shred an unsuspected attacker thinking he is staring down ‘a bunch of miners,’ all too quickly dismissing them as pushovers, then immediately realizing his mistake when he discovers he’s been baited by Ventures armed with energy neutralizers, warp scramblers, and artillery.
So, the next time you’re in the market for a mining vessel (or prowling the belts thinking you’re guaranteed an easy kill), take heart, capsuleer, of the resilient and resolute Venture – it will be a pillar of success for you…or your worst nightmare.
