Our SMITE 2 tier list covers (almost) every god in the game right now, which at the time of writing, is a healthy 40. This tier list has been decided upon by our community of SMITE 2 experts, featuring plenty of top players in the original game who have been playing the sequel since the early playtests, so thousands of collective hours of playtime have gone into making this list. A few of the more recent additions aren't included in this list as it's too early to call, but they'll be added when we update this page.
So if you're wondering who the best gods in SMITE 2 are right now and who you should avoid, you've come to the right place. You should also check out our top SMITE 2 tips, as these are essential for getting to grips with this third-person mythological MOBA.
S-Tier

S Tier consists of the best gods in the game right now, and there’s a lot of consensus on these four - they were consistently voted at or near the very top of pretty much every submission.
Zeus had the best ranking of every god in the game, with six S-tier and five A-tier rankings. NotAValveGame explains this is simply because he deals "too much damage" and "explodes everyone incredibly fast". mypets thinks he's deserving of a nerf because he's "too dominant", and DiscoFerry considers him to be the best mid-laner in the game.
Baron Samedi has been nerfed recently but despite that, he still gets an S-tier ranking, alongside a more recent addition, Sobek. yan57436 votes for the Egyptian god of the Nile as his absolute top choice, and NotAValveGame considers his third ability - Sickening Strike - to be the single best ability in the game. "Sobek is insufferably tanky, has healing, a huge area-of-effect execute, and can play two roles," he explained.
Anubis, meanwhile, is a bit of a dark horse in the top tier because he didn't receive too many S-tier votes, but the ones he did receive, and his consistency in the top two tiers, meant that he just creeps in mathematically. Dydo thinks Anubis is one of three gods with the highest burst potential, and that's why he's played so much. In a live streamed tier list, Cloggedbean says Anubis's "damage is just crazy, once he has his ultimate ready to go, the cooldown is so low, he can be difficult to deal with."
A-Tier

We consider A-Tier gods to be those with the potential to be dominant with the right builds, but you wouldn't necessarily consider them overpowered. We won't dive into every god here because of how many there are and how scattered our community’s votes were among them, but here’s what our community thinks of the gods that they collectively nominated as A-tier most often.
CMDR Henckes doesn't play Odin, but he is one of the gods he most dislikes coming up against. This is because "he has a passive that makes him almost impossible to kill", while DiscoFerry explains he's picked very frequently in competitive play, but he isn't S-tier because if he were, he'd get banned in those matches.
Dydo calls Yemoja the best support in the game right now, which is why she's so high up in our A-tier, while NotAValveGame thinks Fenrir simply "does too much" because he's "tanky, plays three roles, and could even play mid if mid-laners wanted to be inventive". He also considers Ra to be "incredibly difficult to 1v1 because he can build full tank and still deal so much damage". NiteDark also rates Ra highly due to his "good healing and powerful long-range ultimate", and thinks Amaterasu has "great sustain and strong team presence".
B-Tier

Gods in B-tier can hold their own, but other things being equal they aren’t the prime pick in their spot, and could arguably be due a buff (or more likely, other gods a nerf). They tend to be picked by players who vibe with them in particular and know how to build and play them well. Again, far too many gods here to highlight every single one, but know that these aren't necessarily bad picks - they’re just situational or skill-sensitive.
Danzaburou features here because CMDR Henckes considers him to be "a headache for enemies if you combo him well", and he's another that Dydo considers to have high burst potential. Dydo also thinks that Ares is unstoppable in the late game, but the common consensus is that he struggles a lot early on, which prevents him from being ranked any higher.
Inters3ct's detailed tier list video considers Khepri's revive to be one of the strongest in the game, calling it "very unique and valuable, only countered by Thanatos and Sobek", and that he's "very good defensively, especially against Zeus". Inters3ct also explains that Loki "has fallen off a little bit", but his "proc build is still insane".
C-Tier

Finally, we have C-tier. SMITE 2 is a game in which no god is outright unplayable, but these are the gods that aren't performing to the same level as others right now, and if you're new to the game, you’ll probably struggle with them.
Mordred is the most interesting out of these because while he's one of the lowest ranked overall, he's the only C-tier god that did actually receive an S-tier vote. It came from CMDR Henckes, who didn't elaborate on why, but Feddboii also placed him in A-tier, explaining he's "persistently strong through all phases of the game, but not unbeatable". However, he received way more lower placements, with Sturmer saying he "lacks effectiveness compared to other assassins", NiteDark that he has "high damage but lacks escape options", and Ravens Are BEST that he could be ranked higher, but they haven't seen a single Mordred perform well in their experience. That could be because his kit is pretty complicated and very different from any other god, so Mordred’s steep learning curve might be the reason he isn’t seeing more love, rather than or as well an actual lack of potential.
Hades is the lowest-ranked god overall, with yan57436 ironically saying Hades is dead. Since, you know, he's the god of the underworld. He's a god that has never found a home, with yan saying he's been a tank, burst, support, solo, and mid-laner in the past. NiteDark considers him to be "easily countered".
