Wish this was just “in-game radio station” because Snoop Dogg’s remix of Riders On the Storm by The Doors was a revelation in Need for Speed Underground 2.

I genuinely set the radio to only play that track to absorb it via osmosis while I played the game because I have a thing with memorizing lyrics.

Woah. I played N4SU2, but I was clearly too young to appreciate what I was listening to. I've just listened to it, what a bop!

100%. I can't remember what games they were on anymore but I distinctly remember discovering Black Math by The White Stripes on a skating game in like 2004 and Final Frontier by RJD2 as well.

Oh man. The nostalgia! BRB, gonna go live in the 00's in my head for around 24 hours...

Can… can I come with you?

Roo's avatar

If I could really go, I'd be taking everyone! Back in the days when the most toxic thing on social media was getting 'poked' on Facebook 😂

Horror and Cats's avatar

Oh man… you just talked me out of going back lmao. I do not miss the days of people confronting you in person about poke-related drama

Spandau Ballet - Gold

I'm not certain that I heard it first on GTA: Vice City's Wave 103 radio station, but it's definitely where my mind goes whenever I hear the song. Considering the game debuted when I was ten, it more than likely was where I first learned of it. Don't judge me for playing an 18 rated game, I was mature for my age...

Paired with Gary Numan's Cars, Frankie Goes to Hollywood's Two Tribes, Nena's 99 Luftballons, and Michael Jackson's Billie Jean, Wave 103 is easily one of the best stations, and it really built my childhood.

GTA 3 came out in the early 00's at around the same time I was starting to discover live music and my tastes were widening. I went to watch a show at a local venue in town and the first warm-up act absolutely blew me away - they were a German rock/punk outfit called Beatsteaks and my resounding memory of the show was the singer crowd surfing on an actual surfboard, which 13 year-old me thought was unbelievable. Needless to say I snapped up their album (on CD - this was the pre-iTunes age) and loaded it on to my Xbox hard drive when I got home.

Fast forward a few weeks and I'm playing GTA 3 - a game wholly inappropriate for my young age and I'm cycling through the radio stations and who do I hear but Beatsteaks?! Oh man! This is huge! I practically sprint to the landline (yes, this was also pre Nokia 3510 👀). I call the friend I went to the gig with - gushing with excitement! Anyway, as I'm sure you can guess, it was just the station that plays your music from local storage. But this was the dial-up age when the only way to find out you were being a complete muppet was to out yourself to other people and be unmercifully corrected 😬

22 years later and I can still feel that dizzying high followed by the immediate fall from grace 😂. Here's the track, which (possibly entirely down to nostalgic reasons) still bangs IMO 🤘

I have a couple of songs.... Mostly from GTA V: Jey Rock's Hood Gone Love It in on Los Santos Radio , Stevie Nick's I Can't Wait on Los Santos Rock Radio and M.I.A.'s Bad Girls from Non-Stop-Pop FM. Definitely I switched a lot of stations in GTA V, depending on my mood of the day.

honestly playing GTA Vice City again recently (the remastered versions) got me right back into and even deeper into amazing 80s music! And one that it got me hooked on was this absolute classic! I had never really heard the original but I had heard a more modern remake aka will smiths Miami, when I was younger which I loved but the original is sooo good!

Fever 105 is what you will find me listening to in GTA Vice City! What’s an incredible game! Enjoy!

The Human League - (Keep Feeling) Fascination

Just one of the many Vice City songs that transport me back to my living room as a 11 year old. Most of the music I listened to back then was heavily influenced by my Dad, who's always been into punk/rock. Vice City broadened my musical horizons, and along with classics like Kids in America, Atomic and 99 Luftballons, a massive hit of nostalgia is only one song away.

There have been so many and just yesterday my wife mentioned she discovered Video killed the radio star on gta Vice city.

However of all the tracks in every game there is one that always comes to mind and that is Joyride by Da Shooaz from the very first GTA. This is the games theme song but it also comes on the radio in game.

Given the age I was when I was playing the games, I’m sorry to say I discovered Billie Jean on Vice City. I can honestly say I rarely had any idea what I was doing but that song still reminds me of playing the game. Bloody good song for an even better game!

I just looked up the songs from Vice City and just seeing the titles of some of the songs that I never knew what they were called gives me chills - Owner of a Lonely Heart, Out of Touch, Run to you! Iconic!

America - A Horse With No Name

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ocLCLMZO6dc

When GTA San Andreas released, younger me thought it was really cool to play through the story of a gang member, constantly cursing and being an overall menace. But at the same time, I developed a great appreciation for the K-Rose and K-DST (The Dust) radio stations, playing all sorts of country and soft rock.

K-DST played A Horse With No Name quite often and years later, with music streaming being so accessible, my last.fm account says I've listened to America over 600 times. There's just something about 70s rock...

Side note: GTA Vice City also had fantastic radio stations. So did GTA IV. GTA V struggled a bit in that department, I think. Who knows what cool stuff we'll get to hear in GTA VI, AKA the modern Vice City. 👀

On Our Own - Bobby Brown.

I really like upbeat funky songs and this ticked all the boxes!

Cry - Godley & Creme (1985) Although released in era that would be more suited to the sunny shores of Vice City, this song holds a special place in my heart as it is featured in Grand Theft Auto IV's PC trailer. It captures perfectly the inner turmoil the protagonist Niko Bellic goes through not only when searching for a new life in Liberty City after the horrors of the Serbian war but also not being able to hold back his pursuit for revenge of the man that sold out his fellow infantry men.

It hit home after driving back from a particularly dangerous mission, Roman in tow that this song came on Liberty Rock Radio 97.8 and it made me question why did Niko come to the US only to be brought back into a world of violence and crime. Only one of the few times that I was able to truly empathize with someone of a different culture and background as me and it was through a videogame.

IT would have to be

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pEmX5HR9ZxU

id heard it in Miami. But hadnt really listened to the original as im so young.

thats the great thing about games they can introduce you to great music. The fallout series comes to mind.

GTA III has the most memorable music list in my IMO. So many songs I could still recite word for word just from the many hours playing that game over and over.

'she's on fire' by Amy Holland stands out just because it's just as crazy as the game itself and seems like it could be a song that was just made for the game.

But let's be fair, nothing beats Chatterbox FM and the Petsovernight.com adverts. 'would you like a giraffe?`

petsovernight.com! Now that is a blast from the past!

Rage against the machines - Killing in The Name Of..probably my all time favorite GTA track.

A little off-topic but one of my favorites from another game Scarface The World is Yours) is Turn out the Light. The soundtrack in that game was CRIMINALLY underrated.

so this is my favorate from gta v mainly because everyone iv played with hates it and well yeah i like to annoy people

Wow, I just listened to less than 30 seconds of that, and it was more than enough. I understand where your fellow players are coming from 😅

Night Nurse by Gregory Isaacs!

I had heard the song before but didn't know what it was called or who it was by - then i heard it in GTA V and was like FINALLY i know who made this song hehe

So, we are going WAY back, with GTA here to the first one. 7 radio stations including a police scanner station, this game is how I discovered:

"Benzoate" by Retrograde (Craig Conner) Which was around 1997 from what I can find out but I still have this song bookmarked on my browser. Also such songs as E104 and FigiwhizBut that's original GTA, not these new versions :)
