English is a mongrel language, mixing Latin, Celtic, Norse, Germanic, and French influences among others. For logophiles asked to choose a favourite word, it's a veritable smorgasbord, cornucopia, panoply of options, and the choice perhaps impossible. Yet that's the challenge we're putting to you.
