If you’ve never listened to Elite Dangerous ASMR or even space ASMR, you’re in for a real treat. They say in space that nobody can hear you scream, but that doesn’t mean they can’t hear the soothing rumble of your engines, the gentle thrum of your mining laser, or the satisfying beep-boops of your control panel. We challenged our community of talented content creators and expert players to create the best Elite Dangerous ASMR videos they could. The results are calming, beautiful, and just below.
We’ve included Elite Dangerous ASMR videos for every mood and setting. We recommend reading through the summaries and saving the videos that take your fancy. Whether you’re trying to drift off to sleep or you’ve had a tough day and need to destress, let the sounds of the cosmos be your shepherd and embrace the stunning soundscape of Elite Dangerous.
Elite Dangerous ASMR #1: Alec Turner’s ‘Tour of Ice Mordor’
Ice Mordor? Say no more-dor! We’ll skip the introduction to this one, because the video’s creator Alec_Turner has done it better than we ever could.
“Back in September of 3308 Cmdr Mardante Soloist reported an extraordinary find on the ice world of Traikeou KB-X b18-0 A 2 A, some 8,000 light years from Sol. Located at latitude -34.46° longitude 25.96°, a steep wall of ice rises up, completely enclosing a large area of terrain.
“Resembling the land of Mordor from the maps of The Lord Of The Rings, this place was soon christened ‘Ice Mordor’. In October of the same year, I flew out there to see it for myself, ultimately creating an SRV rally circuit which roughly follows the inside edge of the wall.
“While I was out there I also recorded the following ASMR video, a gentle no-HUD and flight-assist-off tour of Ice Mordor. Sit back, dim the lights, turn up the volume, and spend the next 11 minutes with me as I show you around one of my favourite places in the galaxy.”
Elite Dangerous ASMR: RicZA’s guided meditation
Especially when considering that they’d never dabbled with ASMR video creation before we set the challenge, we think RicZA has done a wonderful job at creating a space ASMR video that would calm Elite Dangerous fans and non-fans alike. One thing we particularly like about their video - simply titled Elite Dangerous ASMR - is that they’ve included a guided meditative narration. We thought that the following narrated line was apt, not just for the Elite Dangerous ASMR challenge, but for the game in general:
“The universe is vast, but here in this quiet place, you find peace.”
Elite Dangerous ASMR #3: Chryco’s ‘Titan Ambience’
One wouldn’t naturally assume that the inside of a Thargoid Titan’s maelstrom would make for a relaxing ASMR video. One would be mistaken. The sounds of storms have long been a top choice for ASMR fans, and chryco's simple video, punctuated by crimson flashes through the amber haze, are a perfect example of why.
Elite Dangerous ASMR #4: JRamirezSV’s mining melodies
It was JRamirezSV's first attempt at making an ASMR video too, but it doesn’t show. There’s something deeply soothing about the build up and release of the mining laser as Ramirez fires, floats, and repeats while drifting on the galactic tides.
Elite Dangerous ASMR #5: Doc’s Flight of the Fed Corvette
Who needs a decompression chamber when you can decompress with a space ASMR video like Doc's? Unlike some of the other Elite ASMR videos in this list, Doc’s video takes its viewers on a journey, starting at port and then venturing out into the black in a trusty Federal Corvette. He gets in a few scrapes en route, so if you’re hoping for a purely relaxing video, this might not be the choice for you, but it’s a delight nonetheless.
Elite Dangerous ASMR #6: SimWithDon’s ‘Deepspace Ambience’
Here’s a nice long one, offering you 40 minutes of blissful space-based ASMR. SimWithDon landed on a distant planet and let the Milky Way drift by as atmospheric winds and echoing alien noises create a somewhat ominous yet still relaxing auditory panorama. Here’s SimWithDon’s scene-setting:
“Out in the black we find our intrepid Commander exploring strange new worlds. This planet is over 1,800 lightyears from Earth. Enjoy the solitude.”
Elite Dangerous ASMR #7: Beetlejude’s ‘Scientific Installation at the White Dwarf’
We know we shouldn’t have favourites, but Beetlejude's uniquely creative videos are always a treat. This one comes in at only one minute long but features one of Beetlejude’s gorgeous time-lapse paintings. If there’s a better way to spend the next one minute and 15 seconds of your day, we’d love to hear it. We agree with Doc, who simply commented “Wow, amazing!”
Elite Dangerous ASMR #8: Triggerhappy’s Dark Side of an Icy World
Quiet, understated, and intriguing, Triggerhappy's Dark Side of an Icy World is a great video for anyone looking to drift off to dreams of the cosmos. It’s over an hour long, so if you have trouble getting your Zs, look no further. Complemented by distant rumbling thunder, cracking ice, and brief interludes of Elite Dangerous’s fantastically composed score, this is a sci-fi ASMR video you won’t want to miss.
Elite Dangerous ASMR #9: MQC’s ‘Waiting for you at the Midas’
MQC has gone for a unique spin on the classic ASMR video in that their video features the sounds of a space bar - a space bar on the decks of the famed Megaship, the Midas. The jazzy beats on the stereo mingled with the chatter of the crowds will have you tapping along and wishing you could spend the night chatting with galactic explorers while sharing glasses of some futuristic glowing beverage. With his famed golden touch, it’s a video Midas himself would be proud of. Here’s MQC’s intro:
“On the Midas, a Megaship in the Zeus system, one Commander waits in the bar for his lover. Time goes by and she doesn't arrive. What could have happened?”
Elite Dangerous ASMR #10: Tryohazard’s ‘Asp-irations’
Moments of near silence, echoing comms, hydraulics compressing, and thrumming alien sounds - Tryohazard's Elite Dangerous ASMR video has it all. It’s probably not the choice for you if you’re looking for pure tranquillity, but if you want to leave this world behind, then grab a decent pair of headphones and go embark on an immersive sonic odyssey.
Elite Dangerous ASMR #11: qwertyForever’s starlit campfire
If you are looking for something to drift off to, then look no further than qwertyForever's ASMR video, which will put you straight to sleep. And we mean that in the best way possible. Heck, qwerty admits it themself!
“I hope this is ASMR enough, since it really puts me to sleep. Here’s the very famous Mitterand Hollow, where a moon zips by at amazing speeds. Occasionally, you can find the rare lava fountain over which we can roast marshmallows and relax to the bubbling molten magma as the tiny sunsets and sunrises pass on a distant world. It’s a safe experience, rated ‘E’ for ‘everyone’, so come join me as I bathe in the warmth of these miniature eruptions.
“Disclaimer: It’s only safe if you react fast enough to your SRV's warning systems and stay at a safe distance from the eruption point. We hold no responsibility for any loss of vehicles while attempting to replicate this endeavour.”
Qwerty recorded for two hours and it cost them half a tank of SRV fuel. “Oil ain’t cheap, at least by OPEC standards,” so give them some love in the comment section if you enjoyed it. If you’d like to learn more about Mitterand Hollow check out #14 in our list of Elite Dangerous facts. Now about those marshmallows?
Elite Dangerous ASMR video #12: Slamscape’s core mining
Here’s another absolute star of a video. Slamscape's videos are always professional and enjoyable, and this one is mastercrafted. It starts with Slamscape drifting over pale blue planetary rings before blasting off into an immersive audio visual experience. Talking of blasts, the nature of core mining means there are a few booms in there, so don’t be taken off guard. Whereas some of the other videos on this list shine in their auditory elements alone, this one expertly combines sound and visuals with carefully chosen clips of asteroid belts and ship closeups.
Elite Dangerous ASMR video #13: Solaris104’s ‘Sounds of the Universe’
Our penultimate Elite Dangerous ASMR video comes from Solaris104. Once more it’s a real odyssey, and it shows off much of the wonder of Elite’s epic galaxy. They’ve integrated the sounds of the menu screen, supercruise, and much more. We particularly like the quiet moments in which one can really feel the fragility, loneliness, and vulnerability of being a Commander, with only the walls of the ship separating you from the abyss.
Elite Dangerous ASMR video #14: Cmdr Travis Robicheaux’s ‘Space Station Ambience’
The name says it all with CmdrTravisRobicheaux's video. Who needs space ASMR when you can have space station ASMR? We could watch and listen to this one all day, and thankfully it’s an hour and a half long so we’ll only have to hit repeat a few times.
