Hey everyone, we’re back with another dose of the best member-led content to cure your Monday blues. The most popular content from the last week was all about looking back at memories of media past. So with that in mind, let’s start by taking a look at what our members ‘member!
Two of our most popular ever bounties closed last week, and both were decidedly nostalgic in nature. The first was in Just About Tech; it asked you about your earliest internet memories. Among the 26 submissions, there was talk of Snoopy forums, chat about Hungarian Star Wars portals, and lots of discussion on the jarring beep-boops of dial-up internet modems. We couldn’t pick a favourite, but we’re sharing CelestialFlea's because it discusses two of the things we love most: community and gaming.
The next bounty that got you reminiscing came from Just About Film & TV. The bounty challenged you to share an old TV ad that stuck with you, and to say your entries took us on a trip down Memory Lane would be an understatement; they took us up Recollection Avenue, gave us a guided tour around Nostalgia Square, and then dropped us off on Evocation Boulevard. It shouldn't be a surprise then that we awarded a whopping 28 winners. They included Rixx Javix's sharing of an ad he himself created (complete with a monkey called Chloe), classics like Scrbzy's Budweiser ‘wasssuuup’ submission, and delightful blasts from the deep past like Paige's hedgehog road safety ad. We suspect our UK-based members will watch this tear-jerking Hovis ad with particular fondness:
We’re not crying, you’re crying! Thanks to Shovel for that one. While they’re not necessarily nostalgic, we’d also like to celebrate a few other bounty submissions that particularly impressed us. Shovel really delivered on her new electric-type pokemon, Nine created an awesome Minecraft combat montage, orik Kado showed lots of thoughtful positivity around changes to EVE Online’s Nullsec systems, and Sturmer and Konquest teamed up off-platform to explore each other’s bases in Nightingale:
Konquest also absolutely nailed our ‘make an epic trailer for a non-epic movie’ bounty. Introducing Charlotte’s Web like you’ve never seen it before:
Elsewhere across the platform, there have been great non-bounty posts - all of which are worthy of congratulations for one reason or another. First up, there was this post from EveOnlineTutorials nominated for Member Monday by CelestialFlea. It’s grown into one of our most-replied-to member-led posts. EveOnlineTutorials asks what you’d get if you crossed the last game you played with the last movie you watched. If you haven’t already, get involved:
Kudos to Makster for digging out a retro gaming gem and giving us an idea for a fun new bounty:
Congratulations to Dave who has found his content creation niche this week:
And a mighty clap on the back to Horror and Cats and his mystery donator for helping to save a litter of abandoned kittens 💛
Finally, we’d like to finish by congratulating TheGreatestBanana12 on his Just About Euro 2024 fantasy football league win!
Was there a discussion, submission, or reply you would have liked to see featured here?
You can nominate any post made since the previous Member Monday. To do this, tag myself or Boomer in a reply to the post you wish to nominate, or simply share a link to the post in the replies below. We’ll take a look through the nominations, and perhaps you’ll see them appear in the next Member Monday!
