Poseidon is a mage character, who bases his damage and abilities on intelligence, capable of being used both as a jungler and as a mid liner. Thanks to his abilities he is able to do great damage in a short time as well as having movement speed which makes him perfect for jungle or sneak attacks.
Abilities
Passive: For every successful basic attack Poseidon gains 10% of a tide up to a maximum of 3, Tide increases Poseidon's movement speed and damage.
When having the Tide at maximum, Poseidon gains 10% movement speed, 15% increased damage in abilities and every time you use an ability the tide decreases.
First ability (Tidal surge): Poseidon throws a wave in front of him causing magic damage and knock back to enemies hit by the wave.
If Poseidon activates his second ability before casting this ability, he will create 2 additional waves that will go along with the main one. And these waves pass through everything and the use of the ability consumes 10% of tide
Second ability (Trident): Poseidon activates the trident gaining an increase in attack speed, movement speed and damage on basic attacks, While active Poseidon will launch 2 extra basic attacks along with the main one.
This ability has no Tide cost and additional basic attacks apply ability damage.
Third ability (whirlpool): Poseidon summons a Whirlpool where the player selects within a certain range causing slowness and magic damage to enemies inside the Whirlpool, In addition, the whirlpool creates a vortex effect and draws enemy gods into the center, making it more difficult to escape from this ability.
This ability does a maximum damage of 6 hits over 3 seconds and has a Tide cost of 15%
Fourth ability (Release the Kraken): Poseidon summons a kraken from the ground wherever the player targets within a certain area, dealing high magic damage and slowing enemies in the kraken's area. Enemies in the center of the ability will be knocked into the air thanks to the knocked up and will receive the highest magic damage and the stun of this ability.
This ability costs 20% Tide, does 30% slow, and at its highest damage scales with 100% intelligence.
Build
Poseidon can be a Midliner or a Jungler, however I will show you a Midliner Build and optional items to change this Build.

Tips to play Poseidon
Thanks to his passive and abilities Poseidon can gain a lot of movement speed which can be used to escape surprise attacks from enemy gods or arrive in time for a team fight or steal an enemy Buff with some ability
If you combine the first and second skills it is very useful to quickly push the Minions or push enemy gods that are chasing you taking advantage of the 3 waves and the movement speed gained
The Whirlpool is very useful for clearing minion waves, stealing or killing jungle buffs, dealing ranged damage, harassing enemy gods, and the best way to use it is to cast the whirlpool first at the feet of an enemy god and then throw the kraken so that this god cannot escape and you can hit the kraken perfectly
The Kraken being a very powerful and ranged ability is very useful for stealing things from the jungle, dealing group damage to enemy gods or instantly killing an enemy god without much protection.
Poseidon has been a unique and ionic god since his release in Smite 1, you can play him in mid-lane, ADC, jungle and you can play him solo he is a flexible god thanks to his kit
Poseidon passive
Changing Tide: when you hit a basic attack Poseidon gains a tide increasing his movement Speed and dealing more damage with abelites using any ability decreases Tide.
Poseidon abilities
Tidal Surge: Poseidon creates a wave sending it straight forward hitting any enemy on its way dealing magical damage and Knocking Back enemies if this ability us used while (his second ability Trident) is active, it will send out two additional waves.
Trident: Poseidon activates his Trident, gaining increased Attack Speed, Movement Speed, and Basic Attack Damage. While activated, Tidal Surge & Basic Attacks fire two additional shots.
Whirlpool: Poseidon summons a whirlpool dealing magical damage overtime and Crippling enemies inside it
Release the Kraken: Poseidon summons the Kraken dealing magical damage and slowing enemies in the ultimate area, if the enemies are in the center of the ult they are stunned, knocked up, and take increased magical damage.
This build is a mix between cooldown for spamming abilities and movement speed with his passive makes Poseidon move faster on the map and magical damage for one-shot purposes.
When you play Poseidon start by leveling your first ability ( tidal surge) because it has a low cooldown rate this is gonna help with clearing your minions waves
Poseidon combo is very easy starting by using your 3 ( whirlpool) crippiling your enemy and using your ultimate on him this will make you hit enemies in the middle of your ultimate then use your 1 (tidal surge) on them, this combo can 1 shot non-tank enemies very quick.
For team fights play behind your tank make distance with your enemies and use your abilities wisely especially your ultimate because with a good ultimate in team fights can let your team win the game.
Poseidon is a powerful midlaner in smite 2 that specializes in having a lot of burst damage and zoning in teamfights thanks to his whirlpool and his kraken, he also has a high movement speed that makes him a good god even to play in the jungle
Abilities
Passive: Changing Tide
By hitting enemies with his basics, Poseidon increases his tide meter which increases his movement speed and all his skills do additional magic damage, this gives Poseidon an increase in speed and damage that benefits him when chasing enemies or run away from some gank
1 Skill: Tidal Surge
Poseidon shoots a wave that passes through all enemies in his path, doing magical damage and pushing them. Additionally, when using this ability when Poseidon has his 2 active, he will launch two additional waves on each side. This ability does a good amount of burst damage that is used to quickly push the wave of minions or to surprise an enemy god with the damage.
2 Skill: Trident
By activating this ability, Poseidon gains attack speed, movement speed and basic attack damage, and also causes basic attacks to fire two additional projectiles on each side just like with Tidal Surge. This ability gives Poseidon enough constant damage in addition to his burst damage from other abilities since the increased damage to his basic attacks is not something to take lightly.
3 Skill: Whirlpool
Poseidon summons a whirlpool on the ground that will damage and cripple all enemies inside and attract them to the center of the whirlpool. This ability is mainly used to zone enemies and prevent them from using escape skills and combo with the kraken of his ultimate
4 Skill: Release the Kraken!
Poseidon summons a Kraken that comes out of the ground in a circular area that will deal a large amount of magic damage and slow enemies. Enemies that are hit in the center of the Kraken's area will receive additional damage and will be knocked up. This ability is one of the most iconic and impactful in the entire game as it has the ability to oneshot any enemy carry. The trick is to use the Whirlpool first, then the Kraken, and while they are in the air, hit them with Tidal Surge to ensure the most damage possible..
Skill order
Builds
Below I will leave a standard build for mid and another build to use Poseidon in the jungle
Poseidon, the God of the Oceans, is a mage in SMITE 2, renowned for his high burst damage, crowd control, and mobility. His abilities allow him to dominate the battlefield, making him a versatile pick for players who enjoy controlling the game.
Abilities
Passive – Changing Tides Poseidon's abilities build Tide with each use, increasing his movement speed and the damage of his abilities as his Tide meter fills.
1st Ability – Tidal Surge Poseidon summons a wave that travels forward, damaging and pushing back all enemies in its path.
2nd Ability – Trident Upon activation, Poseidon's basic attacks shoot three water bolts in a spread, increasing his attack speed and movement speed for a short duration.
3rd Ability – Whirlpool Creates a vortex at the target location that slows and pulls enemies toward the center, dealing damage over time.
Ultimate – Release the Kraken! Poseidon releases the Kraken at the target location, dealing massive damage and applying crowd control effects to enemies within the area.
Ability Leveling Order
Prioritize leveling Tidal Surge first for wave clear and poke, followed by Whirlpool for crowd control and area damage. Trident can be leveled next to enhance mobility and basic attack damage. Always upgrade Release the Kraken! whenever available to maximize burst potential.
Builds
This was the best build I made for poseidon. With it we have extremely high damage, managing to decimate opponents very easily.
Strengths
High Burst Damage: Poseidon abilities, especially when combined, can quickly eliminate squishy targets.
Crowd Control: Abilities like Whirlpool and Release the Kraken! can disrupt enemy positioning and initiate team fights.
Mobility:Trident increases movement speed, allowing Poseidon to engage or disengage effectively.
Weaknesses
Squishiness: As a mage, Poseidon is vulnerable to burst damage and requires careful positioning.
Skill Dependency: Missing key abilities can significantly reduce his effectiveness in fights.
Tips and Playstyle
Positioning: Maintain a safe distance in team fights, utilizing Whirlpool and Tidal Surge to control enemies from afar.
Combo Execution: Initiate with Whirlpool to slow and group enemies, follow up with Release the Kraken! for burst damage, and finish with Tidal Surge or enhanced basic attacks from Trident.
Tide Management: Keep an eye on your Tide meter; higher Tide levels enhance your abilities' effectiveness.
Objective Control: Use Release the Kraken! to secure objectives like Fire Giant or Gold Fury, as its high damage can outburst enemy attempts.
Poseidon, son of Cronus and Rhea, is the Greek god of the sea, horses, and earthquakes, known as the "Earth-Shaker." With his trident, he commands the ocean's moods, creating both storms and calm. His myths include vying with Athena for Athens and cursing Odysseus. Celebrated in coastal regions, he embodies the sea's dual nature as protector and destroyer.
Passive - Changing Tide: Gains speed and damage with Tide Level, raised by basic attacks and lowered by abilities.
Tidal Surge: Sends a wave to damage and push enemies back, good for clearing and zoning.
Trident: Boosts attack and movement speed, three-shot spread on basic attacks. Use for farming or chasing.
Whirlpool: Cripples and pulls enemies in, dealing damage over time. Use to set up your ultimate.
Release the Kraken: Damages, slows, and stuns in a large area. Center hit for max effect.
Tips
Great combo Whirlpool > Kraken > Tidal Surge > Trident. Stay safe; no escape ability. Focus on power, penetration, and cooldowns. Use abilities to control space and time your ultimate for team fights or objectives.
Poseidon, like other characters, is perhaps the most well-known and each of his abilities is linked to the ocean both visually and in the actual battle action. Although he has been slightly weakened lately, he is still one of the characters who is not the strongest but the most stable during battle. He has the ability to inflict damage, to control certain areas and is very useful if you are looking for a strategy for victory.
Alone he may not be very useful, but together with a well-structured team he can become the spearhead. He can strike both close and far away and the "Trident strike" is his greatest strength because it inflicts damage directly. With other abilities he can inflict damage by area, he can immobilize enemies with the "Whirlpool" ability and can also stun in order to strike while enemies cannot respond.
As for items, I suggest "Chrono's Pendant", Obsidian Shard which are great because they allow him to maximize his attack power and survive in the later stages of the game.
A very useful tip is to always keep mana management high because his abilities require expensive consumption in critical moments.
