This is going to be controversial...

My favourite update was the 1.9 combat update. As a hunger games minecraft player before them at first I did really hate the new combat with shields but as time went on i grew to realise it actually made the combat way more fun, a bit more in depth and some extra added strategy rather than clicking. While for hunger games servers it did take a while to get a good balance to how this worked. This was so much better for survival and modded in which the difficult increases worked in favour of a shield!

How I am a builder in this game and play only in creative mode, my favourites updates are the ones with new block. So there is a bunch of updates that I love, there is the World of Color Update, The Update that Changed the World, the Bountiful Update.

But for me the Nether Update, this update remade an entire dimension giving life to it, in gameplay it gave more purpose to explore the Nether but how I said, for me the new blocks and variations that were add in this update is extraordinary. The new color gave much more contraste and saturation to the buildings. There were block with more details in texture some with animated textures to create nice effects in your buildings. So for me there isn't any better update.

The new warped and crimson blocks are great to give nice touch of colours, they fit very well in fantasy themed buildings roofs. The black and darker blocks are great to make great contrast and details like some stripes in walls or in the end of it.

As an addendum I would like to mention the Beta 1.8, The Adventure Update 1 and how I play this since the beta 1.4 or 1.5 the 1.8 update in beta was one of the best thing in life. It was the moment that Notch added the creative mode in the game, before that I had to build in survival and it was a pain for me, but the bad part as well in this update was what makes me run away from survival that was the hunger and I HATED IT, the game that I would just mine, get resources and sleep at night, now I had to become a farmer to get enough food to survive.

Village and Pillage (1.14) was definitely the biggest update to the game. Villagers received a complete overhaul, tons of new workstations opening up new opportunities for gameplay, the illagers from 1.11 were updated and given some new uses and lore, etc. It also gaves us scaffolding, crossbows, banner patterns, and of course the new textures. Nothing else even comes close, apart from maybe 1.9

The question may seem easy but damn, that's actually tough to choose just 1 update. I've first heard about Minecraft when it was about to leave Beta version and got the game somewhere around 1.5-1.6. Huge amount of things changed since that days, a lot of great updates appeared, both from the Notch and Mojang.

If I would have to pick ma favorites, then they would be 1.13, 1.16 and Caves & Cliffs. And by saying Caves & Cliffs, I'm talking about whole expansion, from 1.17 up to 1.19. For me, it counts as 1 huge update split up into 3 parts.

And that's what I'm going to choose, the Caves & Cliffs update. I love technically everything we've got, starting from new world high, ending on AMAZING world generation with new wonderful caves and, well, cliffs 😄

The new ores looks fresh yet I still love to see old-looking diamonds on the YouTube videos, it just feels so nostalgic. With new cave biomes the underground finally became to be interesting, rather than just travelling through the endless maze of stone corriders, you can travel through endless maze of stone corridors with dripstone 😅

Jokes aside, the giant deepslate caves filled with lava at the bottom and lush caves flora atthe ceiling is something really cool to watch,

And the game finally got a bit horror style, different from just looking behind if the Herobrine is not watching on me in the 1 block thick and 2 blocks tall tunnel 😫 The Warden is the only mob that I fear to encounter but also the only one I'm so fascinated about just how unique he is. I've literally never used my firework elytra quicker than when he started to dig up from the underground.

Damn that post is long... Okay so that's my (shortened) thougts about my fav. update. Can't wait to read your posts too, bye!

I can't remember which update it was, but being able to create Iron Golems was the best for me personally.

I discovered a simple mechanic using pistons and redstone to dupe infinite Iron Golems without losing the iron blocks it would normally take to create one. This made me filthy "rich" on the server I played on at the time. Only the pumpkin would be lost when creating the Iron Golem.

The Iron Golem would be killed in lava with an automatic item collection system that would fill a chest.

It was a great and fun time, having so much iron that I could use it as regular building blocks.

I'm personally a big fan of the various animals/peaceful mobs that have been added over the game's lifetime. My personal favorite addition has been Cats/Ocelots in version 1.2.1, both because I like cats in general, and I found it amusing that cats could act as a deterrence to creepers.

Caves and Cliffs for sure. Brought me back to do a survival playthrough for the first time in ages.

The series of Caves and Cliffs updates changed the game for exploration, bringing all kinds of eye candy above and underground, and removing the possibility that once you've seen one cave in Minecraft, you've pretty much seen them all. Also has a beautiful soundtrack, as if things couldn't get better.

I have loved many things about Minecraft but especially the Cherry Biome and the Bees! The cherry materials are very pretty with the tones that come out for the wood and decorations at home and the trees shedding petals is the best thing even to make a quiet environment and the bees fascinate me because of their chubby appearance 🌸🐝

I’ve changed my perspective over time. Initially, I thought the addition of sticky pistons was a significant milestone for the game. Yet, looking back, the Caves & Cliffs update made a big impact with the introduction of new mountain ranges and the increased build height and depth.

While some may not agree with me, I believe version 1.20 introduced a lot of fantastic features that many players had longed for. It really helps Minecraft feel more like a vibrant, lived-in world. On the other hand, I think making netherite less accessible wasn’t the best choice. A better approach would have been to introduce new content instead.

Additionally, there seems to be a shortage of camels in the game. It would be awesome if they could incorporate desert villages that feature hanging carpets, traditional souqs (Arabic markets), and buildings inspired by Arabic architecture. I’m not entirely sure how they’d pull that off, but maybe they could also add occasional sandstorms for a more dynamic atmosphere.

All this said, without a doubt, I’d say 1.16 is the best update. While it may have started as just snapshots, the Nether was loooooooong overdue for an upgrade. It’s been part of the game since the Alpha phase, and the terrain generation hasn’t seen much change since then. For this by itself, as a nether lover, I’d definitely choose 1.16 as my favorite!!

I’ll always just be so happy that you can tame dogs and take them around with you, although the stress of them randomly teleporting and constantly having to make sure they don’t die makes the game have an added pressure 😂

I'm going to out myself as old and a fairly early player here, but for me it'll be redstone. Particularly when pistons were added in Beta 1.7 (in 2011), it changed the way I play the game! Suddenly I can build contraptions that interact with the world. Now I was not limited to what my hands could do, I was able to move many blocks at the flick of a lever and from far away even! It felt like an entirely new game with so many possibilities.

The fact that shears were added, making wool a much easier and more abundant material is just a bonus!

E

I know this is going to be something entirely uncontroversial and a regular Minecraft pleb take, but the Caves and Cliffs update changed the game so much for the better. World generation became far more interesting, and delving into caves made the game feel fresh and new in ways that I could only describe as lovingly nostalgic. It felt like I was playing the game anew.

I've been playing Minecraft since its release, and one update I really liked was the release of horses. It's an essential animal in most games, so it was an update I was looking forward to and it lived up to the hype!

When I first saw the demo at Gamescom in 2019, I was blown away by how this technology breathed new life into a 10-year-old game. While the cats and wardens are cool, the RTX feature, in my opinion, is the real game-changer.

My favorite Minecraft update is definitely Caves & Cliffs. Released in two parts between 2021 and 2022 for the Java and Bedrock editions, the update simply transformed the way we played the entire game, both on the surface and underground.

Part 1 brought new blocks, mobs and items, some examples being amethyst, copper and our friend axolot. Part 2 was the big difference, as Mojang revamped the way terrain was generated, completely remodeling the mountains and caves (which are now much deeper, have their own elements such as stalactites and have their own biomes), which totally changed the monotonous act of going after ore in the game, turning it into an epic adventure at the slightest hint of a cave.

It's not just new caves that satisfy a Minecraft player haha, the mountains have also gained biomes and we've had the combination of the two changes, when we arrive at a mountain and it has hidden caves, which infinitely increases the content generated.

Blocks:

As for the blocks, copper was a wise decision by mojang, as it ushered in a new era with the oxidation and crafting of it, since we can now have lightning rods

New mobs:

As said above, we've had the addition of Axoloti, Glow Squid and Goat

I think a big milestone for Minecraft was The Nether Update. I thought it gave the Nether a really good makeover, which had previously been a slightly simpler and less attractive dimension.

As I love Minecraft's almost limitless ability to create, I think the new biomes, such as the Warped Forest and Soul Sand Valley, provide new experiences, not just visually, but in terms of gameplay too!

We know that the scenery changes the experience of the game, and the environment of each biome and the color palette greatly enhance the Minecraft experience. One that I loved was the Warped Forest with its shades of blue and green that leave a mysterious feeling!

Another really cool aspect was the new mobs, such as the Piglins, which brought more dynamics. I think bartering has become more interesting, where you can exchange gold for specific items.

The Nether is now more explorable, and this update shows how Minecraft is impressive and always reinvents itself, with the perfect balance between new features and the nostalgia of playing.

My favourite Minecraft update is Caves and Cliffs because of the introduction of axolotls! They’re absolutely adorable, but beware—never eat fish when axolotls are around, or you’ll regret it! Don’t say I didn’t warn you!

I liked the cave update personally. I am a big fan of exploration in most games I play so for me it was deffo that, my only issue was it messed up the mining levels a bit.

So it became harder to find diamonds in Minecraft, but the update was sound.
