Elite Dangerous

Elite Dangerous
T

My rig is fairly cheap compared to the stations other commander have. Two monitors at 1080p each, one for the game and one for community tools to make the job easier. The monitors are in a DIY wooden box that allows me to store things on top of them, just like the CRTs of old. Keyboard and mouse for outside work, HOTAS for pilot's work. The HOTAS is a Playstation Thrustmaster I found in a second hand shop during a vacation to Denmark, it then spent a week camping all over the countryside with me before being tested for the first time, and it works like a charm!

Featuring the "Ultraversatile/Ultraportable" setup, consisting of just the following:

  • A laptop with a Ryzen 7 CPU + RTX 4060

  • An XP-PEN screen tablet on a stand for extra feed (complete with pen)

  • A wireless mouse

Now you can play Elite Dangerous wherever you go!

Nothing fancy actually:
1. Asus F15 Gaming Laptop, providing main hardware support with it's I7 and RTX3070 GPU
2. Razer Viper Wireless
3. Razer Black widow like keyboard (wich is not used during gameplay)
4. RIG 700 Wireless headphones for immersive sound
5. Azeron cyborg compact gaming keypad
6. Razer Ringlight
7. Oculus Quest 2 VR headset
8. AOC office monitor, which I use mainly as USB hub for gaming and work.
9. IoT Timer and thermometer, to control the environment near me while I'memerged in virtual worlds

A simple setup, I keep using the PS4 controller because I was a console player, so I`m used to the controller setup. Moved to PC after the Odyssey DLC launch

Straight forward rig without any flashy parts. I can't risk getting distracted by too many RGB lights, I need all my focus for landing my ship in one piece!

So, it's a simple setup, a simple laptop that runs the game decently and the old Flight Stick form my boyfriend, The Logitech Extreme 3D Pro, he gave me for I play Elite with him!

I thought it was cute, even the most basic ones should be very useful for playing!

This is my gaming rig. It includes a HOTAS set-up with custom made button box and dashboard. The button box includes 10x momentary push buttons, 3x latching switches, 2x 8-way rotary switches and 2x encoders. The dashboard has a 7" touchscreen with support for ED:Discovery, Web browser support for 3rd party tools such as Inara, and it can also be used for TV streaming services - handy for when you're chilling-out in the void. Also includes addressable RGB LEDs, perfect to create effective ambient lighting for that added immersion.

Logitech G X52 Pro USB Flight Control System with a generic xbox style controller and a 7 dollar keyboard.

My Controls are attached to the desk with velcro.

And my Co-Pilot, Ramirez.

It's (very) minimal setup and my mouse has been with me for quite long time already, but it was always enough for me for casual gameplay and chatting. But going to upgrade mic and replace the mouse soon.

I use setup designed on HOTAS with additional game-pad Razer Nostromo (one of very first versions, still works fine) and VR set - HTC VIVE Pro. Regular keyboard and mouse for on-foot activities in Elite - this is kinda difficult with VR set on, but with good key-binds it's nice to play.

As we play both with my girlfriend (not multi-crew, just swiching on chair) - we have setup HCS Mobile Connector on Tablet. So one of us who is not in VR set, can do as '1st officer' and help with some macro key-binds.

PS. - mounts for HOTAS and Razer game-pad are made by myself :) quick mounting to desk

I loved the HOTAS mounts! Great idea!

My setup is pretty minimal, I use it for gaming and streaming. 27" Acer for my main monitor and an old dell for my stream and 3rd party tools. I play M&K so it's simple, I have an xbox controller that I use for camera mode.

A setup with dual monitor is a must for me! Let the third party tools in one screen helps a lot in my gameplay. For play in HOTAS more comfortably I use my android tablet with GameGlass to add some more buttons to my setup. As my HOTAS I use the Thrustmaster T16000m. And of course I have my mouse and keyboard both from Logitech for the on food content

This is my ED Setup:

I play on a 75-inch projector, with; a Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas, a Logitech Driving Force Pro steering wheel and pedals, a PS3 Eye, a DS3 controller, a keyboard, a mouse and a headset with microphone and DIY OpenTrack head clip.

The whole thing is mounted on an Ikea chest of drawers (hahahaha, yes, it's true) modified to become a folding mini cockpit so it can be put in an alcove in the room for when it's not in use.

For gaming I use as an add-on both Voice Attack for voice commands and Opentrack for head tracking.

Playing at that screen size is impressively fun and immersive. While it is true that you lose resolution and sharpness, since it is a 1080p project at 60 hz and, obviously, the image is not as sharp as it is when you use a screen, actually reading the UI is perfectly clear and the letters perfectly defined (in the pictures you can't see the reality and, if you can see a double image, it's because of the lack of light and the poor quality of the phone, hahahaha).

The folding Ikea setup is ingenious.

I have a Dual-Joystick HOTAS, which I mentioned in a previous discussion, at home. But since I'm now studying in a foreign country, I believe that simplicity is key. Nowadays, I always play Elite on my Steam Deck.

This game runs surprisingly well on the Steam Deck, even at Medium graphic settings. In space scenarios, the Steam Deck can maintain 50 FPS with about 18W power consumption. Even in more complex on-foot scenarios, like walking in a spaceport, it can still run at 30–40 FPS. Unfortunately, in larger multiplayer scenarios, like Thargoid Titan Combat, the FPS drops drastically to just 20, which is almost unplayable.

ENGLISH:
Simple setup, I have the HOTAS on the sides of the keyboard so I can pilot and when I get off the ship I can use the keyboard and mouse on foot.

I already had this problem with my YouTube account, I had to disconnect and reconnect here in Just About to reorganize as "original post".
