Klaus

Klaus is probably what comes to my mind, because the visual style and story are so amazing that Santa seems to bring peace to a village that has not been peaceful for generations.

Klaus, a Netflix animated movie released in 2019, is quickly becoming one of the best Christmas movies of all time. here are my reasons why Klaus is so special:

  1. A Touching and Unique Story
The movie presents the origin story of Santa Claus with a fresh perspective. Rather than just a fantasy story, Klaus highlights themes of friendship, kindness, and the positive impact of small actions.

  2. Stunning Animation
With a stunningly beautiful 2D animation style, Klaus blends traditional aesthetics with modern technology, creating visuals that are alluring and full of warmth.

  3. Strong Characters
Jesper, the self-centered mailman who slowly changes for the better, and Klaus, the mysterious toymaker, present a strong and moving dynamic. The character growth in this movie feels authentic and inspiring.

  4. Strong Moral Messages
Klaus emphasizes the importance of kindness, cooperation, and how one act of kindness can set off a chain of positive change around us-a perfect message for the Christmas mood.

  5. Impressive MusicThe
musical score in Klaus supports the magical atmosphere of the movie, making every moment feel more alive and touching.

With the combination of a warm story, incredible visuals, and universal messages relevant to all ages, Klaus is not only the perfect Christmas spectacle, but also a movie that leaves a deep impression on the hearts of every viewer.

Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas has a special place in my heart and it is just one of two musicals that I really love. Even not directed by Tim Burton himself the movie carry his unique style thanks to Henry Selick, a Burton's friend that has a similar approach in his movies and respected the story created by Burton.

What make this film so special is the contrast with a lot of aspect, a pagan festival and a christian one (I'm not analysing the Christmas origin here, to be clear), and of curse the style that is "childish macabre" with one of the more cute and full of lights festival. And with all that set we going to watch Jack Skellington the famous Pumpkin Jack a icon of the Halloween, feeling that Halloween isn't more his place anymore and we embark with him in a journey with him trying to make the Christmas by himself, but things won't go so well.

And that is why I love this movie so much! This incredible contrast and duality and showing us the the appearance won't show you the true personality of a person.

It’s a Wonderful Life

This is a rough question because there are so many absolutely brilliant films. New ones like Klaus and That Christmas are instant classics and then ones from my childhood like Elf and Polar Express that will always mean something to me and my official runner up would be Muppets Christmas Carol and I could talk so much about this film. BUT I do think objectively, the best Christmas film of all time is Its a Wonderful Life.

It moves so quickly for a relatively longer film, Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed are captivating in their roles. You absolutely fall in love with them and feel so much for George Bailey’s troubles as he sacrifices the life he dreamed of for others until he eventually reaps the rewards for his selflessness. Beautiful film. I recommend it to anyone

for me the best christmas movie is the one by pieraccioni and siani with the title IO E TE DEVOBBIAMO PARLARE. It's a comic movie that tells the story of 2 cops who try to recover the relationship with their daughter. A movie full of suspense and jokes that leave you with a big smile.

Home Alone

There are many films we hold dear in our memories, but rewatching them years later often alters our perception, sometimes diminishing the nostalgic magic. However, Home Alone has proven to be timeless. Despite lacking modern tech, it's about human emotions and relationships, universal themes that never age.

This is why it's consistently popular and a present on festive watchlists. I watched it last weekend with my kids (their first time!) and my parents. It was a truly wonderful experience for all of us. It's a perfect blend of humor, heart, and holiday spirit that bridges generations effortlessly.

Ok is mostly a joke, but i really love it and is unusual chrismas movies of the '80 that eaesly we can consider a proper cult.

In my childhood, I experienced several outstanding Christmas movies, but none was more fun and successful than “Home Alone” (1990).

Man, this movie is simply the best Christmas movie ever made, and for a child, it's 10 times better. The movie plays on the fear and/or desire of many children to be alone at home, along with a bunch of creative traps that every child has grown up wanting to do because of this movie! The comedy is very good, in the style of the 90s, with the bumbling villains and the clever good guy, and it became a reference for many films that followed.

That's why this is my favorite Christmas movie, nostalgia always speaks louder hahaha!

M

There is no better one than that, it was the best movie of that time.

Okay this might be a bit over the top, but I think binge watching the entire Harry Potter series is the best. The Christmas scenes in the movies feels very Christmassy, and always really puts me in the Christmas spirit. It's also just really good movies, and perfect to cozy up to with your favorite holiday snacks and a blanket.

Tokyo Godfathers (2003)
Satoshi Kon maybe more renowned for his psychological thrillers that made her feel creeped out and uncomfortable, but his last work was a humble Christmas film: Tokyo Godfathers. Misfits finding a baby deep in the heart of Tokyo and trying to re-unite it with their parents (basically Japanese Ice Age).

There is something really beautiful about Kon's work as it avoids the wide eyed cutesy design anime is often known for and goes for a more realistic and detailed artstyle which helps ground a lot of the story in reality.

I implore people to give this film a watch as it is often overlooked and under appreciated.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005)

This movie is really memorable for me, when i was a kid, and during the Christmas, we ( my family) were gathering in the living room watching Television and the station always played this movie during Christmas.

It made me brought many chocolates the money that my mom gave me, and she was mad at me, asking why did i buy so many chocolate,

And my answer was " I wanna get the golden ticket". And the she started laughing and pats my head.

That was a lovely memories for me, since my mom living in a different island now.

Jack Frost played by one of my fav actors, Michael Keaton. He plays a musician, always chasing the dream of stardom, but in doing so, he missed out on time with his wife, Gabby, and their son, Charlie. It’s not my story but I can somewhat relate a little to it.

He was always just out of reach, caught up in the fame he thought he wanted. When Jack dies in a car accident on Christmas Day, it leaves a hole in their hearts that feels impossible to fill.

He is then given a magical second chance, the father and son navigates their bittersweet chance to reconnect, make up for lost time, and heal wounds that have never fully healed. I mean this never happens in real life, but don’t we all just wish for a do over or second chance sometimes? What’s not to love.

No one has mentioned Christmas Vacation yet, so I will. This is a classic Christmas comedy and one our family watches every season. It is the best 'vacation' film and contains so much amazing and funny situations, including a great animated opening sequence and original song. Featuring a great cast and memorable moments, Christmas Vacation is one of the best holiday comedies ever made.

There is a person in our area who spends the holidays driving around in a truckster station wagon with a giant christmas tree tied to his roof!

What more can I say? I just thought it was a crime this one hadn't been mentioned yet.

For some reason, whenever I hear or think about Christmas movies, Home Alone is the only one that comes to mind. This movie was always aired on TV during Christmas, and I used to watch it with my younger sibling. Even though we had seen it countless times, it never got old—it was always so much fun. Home Alone isn’t just a great movie; it also brings back memories of my childhood and the cozy atmosphere of those moments. Ahhh, such sweet nostalgia!

Thank You :)

Big plus one to Home Alone - one of my personal faves. Think there's something about the soundtrack in particular that makes it so perfect for Christmas

There are a myriad of Christmas movies with life lessons and very important reflections that should undoubtedly be among the best Christmas movies. But this time I'm going to bring you a movie I watched three or four years ago. “Holidate” is a romantic comedy that thrills and entertains, being one of those Christmas clichés that shows love emerging in an unexpected way and holds the attention of those watching. I had a good laugh watching this movie, I highly recommend it!!!

K

It is most definitely a nightmare before xmas for me. I have watched this film every year for 20 years . The songs are iconic , the performances stellar and it really solidified Tim Burton into the aesthetic he is known for today. The animation style is timeless , and will continue to bring that weird quirky cheer to generation after generation .

J

my poor little angel

For me the best movie and my favorite, I love this movie I always watch it at Christmas and I highly recommend it for people who have not seen it yet This film tells the story of an eight-year-old boy, who must defend his house from two thieves after accidentally being left alone at home at Christmas.

For me, the best Christmas film would have to be Rise of the Guardians. It might not fit into the mould of a Christmas movie, but its freshness and imagination regarding holiday legends set it apart. The film masterfully brings together iconic figures like Jack Frost, the Sandman, and North, known to most of us as Santa Claus, in a story that's both heartwarming and action-packed.

What makes Rise of the Guardians so special is its reimagining of these beloved characters. Santa isn’t just a jolly old man in a red suit—he’s a fearless warrior with "Naughty" and "Nice" tattooed on his arms. The Sandman communicates through shimmering, dreamlike imagery, and Jack Frost is given a compelling origin story that adds layers to his character. These fresh interpretations breathe new life into the legends we’ve grown up with.

At its core, the movie carries themes of hope, belief, and the magic of childhood, all of which go along with the spirit of Christmas. The self-discovery of Jack Frost as he learns his true purpose and accepts the role of Guardian is both touching and inspiring. And let's not forget the visual spectacle: the snowy landscapes, golden dreams, and sparkling frost effects are nothing short of magical.

While Rise of the Guardians covers much more than Christmas, the essence of the holiday is central to the story. North's workshop, filled with twinkling lights and bustling Yetis, is the epitome of festive cheer. The overarching message of the film believing in the unseen and finding wonder in the world-perfectly captures the holiday spirit.

For me, Rise of the Guardians is the best Christmas film simply because it goes beyond what one would expect. The film combines stunning visuals, a new take on well-known characters, and a strong story that touches every age group. It is a film that makes you believe in magic again, and isn't that what Christmas is all about?

L

I almost chose Todd Haynes' "Carol", but finally I must go with the last masterpiece of Stanley Kubrick:

Probably Kubrick's most personal project (if we don't count his endless documents for Napoleon), and of course a living hell for everything involved in the project, this free adaptation of Arthur Schnitzler novel "Dream Story" is a clever, deep and erotic drama about relationships. And it takes place in Christmas, so yes, it is a Christmas movie.

And once again, music has a key role in the movie, just as anothet character. The scene with the masks, Shostakovich's vals...Kubrick being Kubrick. A pure genius.

The Polar Express was an animated film in which we follow our “nameless” protagonist who is beginning to doubt the existence of Santa Claus (Curiosity: Here in Brazil he is called “papai noel” something like Daddy Christmas) and ends up boarding a train that takes him to the North Pole at Christmas time. When he arrives in the enchanted land, our protagonist is chosen to receive the first Christmas present, because he believes in the Christmas spirit, choosing a magic bell from the reindeer in Santa's sleigh, I know it sounds a bit vague, but I want you to watch it to understand the importance of this bell haha. I think it's incredible to see the Christmas spirit and how it “contaminates” people and the human bonds we have, especially with our families. Tom Tanks' performance, with all its genius, was also a highlight for me.

the way i ADORE this film! it was absolutely ahead of its time with the tech used to make it, its amazing!

Scrooged

Hilarious parody of Charles Dickens' ghost story A Christmas Carol, where the ghosts of Christmas past, present and future haunt an obnoxious TV executive who finally comes to understand the mistakes he's made in his life and gets a second chance.

Starring an impressive Bill Murray, an even more impressive John Forsythe and some brilliant supporting actors, it's the kind of comedy that you can't get enough of, that you always enjoy as much as the first day you saw it, and that keeps a smile on your face at all times.

I guess everyone will have seen it about 30 times, but for those who haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend it.

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation

1989 ‧ Comedy/Family ‧ 1h 37m

It captures the chaotic, exaggerated essence of holiday family gatherings. Many can relate to the Griswolds' holiday mishaps. Memorable performances, especially by Chevy Chase. It's become a holiday classic, evoking warm, festive feelings. The film humorously amplifies typical Christmas frustrations. Physical gags like the squirrel in the tree or the electrocution scene.

DU

Even though it's not very old, a film like this cannot be missing from the playlist to watch. It's an extremely Christmassy film that reflects the values of the past in a modern way. There are surprises, a love story and a happy ending. Young actors but with a good amount of experience behind them make this film ideal for both the younger ones and for families. Even at Christmas, important times are dealt with such as uncertainty and the desire to test oneself. And memories are always the basis of every choice, even at Christmas.

My favpurite character is the mum, so lovely and nice, best christmas film for me.

have a nice chrustmas and an happy new year.

"The Grinch", in my opinion, is the greatest film of my birth. Because it transmits a message of love and sharing that goes beyond materialism, so it makes you fully understand the meaning of Christmas. In addition, its protagonist is very iconic and it is easy to identify with him, thanks to his festive aesthetic and the memorable interpretation of Jim Carrey that make him unique and engaging.

I have to count myself among the few who openly admit how much I like The Polar Express.

At the time, critics, movie gurus, and specialists tore this movie apart. They criticized almost everything: the special effects, the plot, and the character development.

For me, The Polar Express is a nostalgic tribute to the innocence we’ve lost—a magical journey into the dream world of the child we used to be.

I’m not a film expert, so I don’t expect anyone to agree with me. 🥲

🔴 JUNGLE ALL THE WAY 🔴 TURBO MAN

My favorite Christmas movie is Jingle in the way because it's a movie about a father trying to make happy his wife and son about a trendy toy Turbo Man which could be the latest iPhone could be the latest PlayStation could be the latest PC

so he becomes obsessed to please his son and the troubles they have to go through so with the comical situations in which we see Arnold Schwarzenegger and Rita Wilson it's amazing how this movie every Christmas shows us the reality that we live today with technology and getting to have the latest trendy gadget or toy.

something special about this movie

What makes this film special is that we see the last performances of Phill Harman who shortly after passed away in terrible circumstances is also one of the last films of Robert Conrad known for the cowboy series Wild Wild West the original in which he did not use a stunt double for most of the scenes is also one of the last films where we saw Sinbad this comedian who lately is very delicate health is a film that is truly revolutionary in my opinion.

Jingle all the way is my favorite Christmas movie

Surprisingly in this movie the saw cameos from James Belushi , the Wrestler the Big Show or Verney Troyer

definitely a good family movie

Let’s Participate it 💪🏼

My best Christmas movie is A Christmas Carol from 1999.

It tells the story of a man's transformation on Christmas Eve for whom Christmas is nonsense.

On Christmas Eve he is visited by ghosts and guided through different stages of his life.

They make him realize that his life needs to change (the 3rd ghost says wise things about modern life).

After being visited by ghosts, a positive transformation occurs.

For me it's gonna have to be The Muppet Christmas Carol.

Charles Dickens' classic Christmas story headlined by Michael Caine with the muppets thrown in for that extra dash of chaos. It's a faithful adaptation that doesn't hesitate to add in its own little twists, and the music is spectacular.

My favorite film for Christmas is: RED ONE - Christmas Alert with Dwayne Johnson

It's not the typical Christmas film you'd imagine, but it has a lot of action and a lot of humor.

I watched this film just because I'm a fan of Dwayne Johnson.

Everyone has to decide for themselves whether they want to watch the film

Love Actually

I don't really watch Christmas movies, but I do like this one due to the amazing cast. You can hardly find another movie with so many big names in it. The music is questionable at best, but it's interesting to watch for the various relationships as they go from dream come true to really typical everyday couples and their problems. Because of these I think it has that miracle feeling but also characters we can very much relate to.

M

My favourite Christmas film is Elf

I'm not a huge Will Farrell film fan but I find he is very funny in this movie. Some of my kids like it too so we will watch it together at Christmas time.

The film contains a number of other well known actors including James Caan, Bob Newhart, and Mary Steenburgen.

The 1947 movie: Miracle on 34th Street is one of my favorite Christmas movies. I love the light comedy, the family feel and, of course, Santa Claus. This movie brings the magic of Christmas right into my living room. If any of you have not seen this yet, please watch the original, the 1947 version. There is a newer one that is fine but I think the black and white brings that extra specialness to the story.

Sturmer's avatar

yea, was a tough decision between Miracle on 34th Street and It's a Wonderful Life, defiantly worth to watch

B

Scrooged! Because Bill Murray. Because it is funny and dark but also sweet and redemptive. It is a take on A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens but set in 1980s NYC. It also has great performances by Alfre Woodard, Carole Kane, Karen Allen, Bobcat Goldthwait, John Forsythe, Robert Mitchum and many more. Favourite xmas film and favourite Bill Murray performance. It used to be on TV every year when I was a kid and now I always watch it on DVD at least once a year...

It's a Wonderful Life" (1946)

George Bailey (James Stewart) is about to jump off a bridge on Christmas Eve when a guardian angel intervenes, showing him what life would have been like had he never existed. Rewinding to rethink life, and ultimately embracing its value are central to the story.

I watched this movie as a small kid, and it left a lasting impression on me. In my opinion, it’s the perfect example of a Christmas miracle movie.

K

Ok someome has already mentioned home alone, so i gotta to the next best xmas movie in the world, also one that is contraversial... DIE HARD. I dont care what anyone says, it is the ultimate xmas movie for adults (and basically adult version of home alone) and ill explain

Kevin mccasllister = john mclain

Kevims home = nakatomi plaza

Hans gruber and thugs = wet bandits

It also had all the relevant parts to make it a christmad movie, christmas songs, christams party, christmas references.

It is basically a christmad movie

Hero! Yea it’s a Christmas movie for sure.

Also, check out Deadly Games/Dial Code Santa Claus. It came out a year before Home Alone in France and it’s basically the exact premise lol

My favorite Christmas movie is Home Alone, also because I grew up with it. Although I also like the sequel, I think the first one is the best, to watch while enjoying a pizza in front of the TV. Fun, full of Christmas atmosphere and it's one of the few films that is nice to see even on its own.

I don't know why you want an explanation of how elegibles Home Alone is for Christmas Time. Its a cult? Its funny? Its adapted for every era? Its themed by Christmas? Come on guys be serious: Home Alone actually can give us a feel of nostalgia mixed with joy, micidial combo for Christmas Holidays!

H

The Best Christmas Film of All Time: Home Alone (1990)

When it comes to Christmas movies, Home Alone reigns supreme as the ultimate festive classic. Directed by Chris Columbus and written by John Hughes, this iconic film perfectly captures the holiday spirit with its heartwarming message, hilarious antics, and unforgettable characters.

Home Alone tells the story of Kevin McCallister, an eight-year-old boy who is accidentally left behind when his family goes on vacation for Christmas. While initially relishing his newfound independence, Kevin must defend his home against two bumbling burglars, Harry and Marv, in a series of wildly creative and comedic traps. The blend of slapstick humor and heartfelt moments strikes a perfect balance, making it enjoyable for viewers of all ages.

What sets Home Alone apart as the best Christmas film is how it embodies the spirit of the season: family, forgiveness, and the importance of togetherness. The snowy suburban setting, the twinkling Christmas lights, and the nostalgic soundtrack by John Williams instantly transport viewers into the holiday mood.

Moreover, Kevin’s character arc—going from a mischievous, self-centered kid to someone who values his family deeply—offers a meaningful and relatable message. And who can forget the timeless charm of lines like “Keep the change, ya filthy animal”?

With its perfect mix of laughter, warmth, and Christmas magic, Home Alone continues to be a beloved tradition for millions around the world. It’s the kind of movie that reminds us why we love Christmas—and why it’s so special to spend it with those we hold dear.
