Although it's still in Closed Alpha, SMITE 2 already has a big difference and evolution when compared to the first game.

I think it comes with some very interesting positive points to highlight, such as the improvements to the graphics and engine. The game is now something else, much prettier, it's clear to see how the features look more refined, how the game is more fluid and even the textures have been improved. This is very good for the gaming experience, it feels like things are coming to life.

Reworking the Gods' kits was also very good... the Gods have been updated and modernized, but their essence has been maintained, which also improves gameplay.

I also found the new Build system to be more strategic and flexible. I confess that at first it was a little difficult, a bit complex, but over time you get the hang of it and learn to customize your style of play. For the conservatives, you can still use builds similar to SMITE 1, if you like.

On top of all this, the Conquest map has been greatly improved and is much richer in detail. However, as some people have commented, there are still some confusions, such as not having a green buff for supports.

Of course, there's always room for improvement... there are some negative points that I think are quite considerable, such as the issue of balancing the gods, since some are much stronger than others, especially those who have received buffs. In addition, I also have the feeling that the damage in general seems higher than in SMITE 1, I feel that the tanks have lost some of their impact... Matchmaking is still inconsistent, which is detrimental to the experience. Some also talk about lags and disconnections, which undoubtedly detract from the experience.

For the launch, I think everyone agrees that we want to see crossplay and more optimized servers, to make the queues faster and the game more accessible too. We really need to adjust the balance of some gods, including the damage of tanks and how they last in the late game, so that we can include more strategy in matches.

This game is huge, its potential is enormous, but there are some issues like the ones I've mentioned that leave room for improvement.

Site 2 remains faithful to the previous chapter, offering the player 5 vs 5 battles with third -person view, however it presents more fluid and reactive mechanics, this make it better than the previous chapter. I start immediately talking about the ADI Sistem Fighting, which naturally remains faithful to the Moba genre, bringing the player to dodge, attack and defend in a strategic way, combining the skills of the various deities.

The presence of a simplified object shop is interesting, which allows the player to create more accessible builds, beyond the inventory of active objects and the removal of the relics. In the game the deities collide with each other, each with its own skills, coming from ancient Greece, from ancient Egypt and the North. The powerful Unreal Engine 5 graphic engine allows you to have a better graphic sector, with a model of the decidedly more detailed deities, as well as scenarios and special effects revised.

I appreciate environmental interaction, such as the soil that is wet with the rain. To praise the user interface, which has been simplified and modernized, now it is clearer and legible. Site 2 is a real evolution of the previous chapter, with a series of not indifferent improvements, and it is useless to say that on the technical front it behaves definitely well, thanks above all of the powerful graphic engine.

Of course, the number of divinities is still limited, but the roster will expand over time, in the meantime it is good to month the fact that, despite being few compared to those envisaged, the gradual release allows you to calmly learn every skill and strategy, mastering the Better each character and creating the best party.

SMITE 2 Review: A Fresh Start or Just More of the Same?

SMITE 2 is the long-anticipated sequel to Hi-Rez Studios’ beloved third-person MOBA, and while it carries the weight of expectations, does it truly deliver? After spending some time with the game in its current state, I’ve got some thoughts on where it excels and where it still needs improvement.

Visuals & Performance

One of the first things that stands out is the graphical overhaul. Built on Unreal Engine 5, SMITE 2 looks significantly better than its predecessor. Character models are more detailed, animations feel smoother, and lighting effects give the battleground a fresh, immersive feel. However, optimization is still a work in progress, with occasional frame drops and performance inconsistencies on mid-range PCs.

Gameplay & Mechanics

At its core, SMITE 2 retains the third-person, action-packed MOBA gameplay that made the original so unique. The movement feels more refined, and abilities have more weight and impact. However, some balance issues persist, with certain gods feeling overtuned while others struggle to find relevance. The new itemization system is a mixed bag—offering fresh strategic depth but also adding complexity that might alienate veteran SMITE players used to the old formula.

New Gods & Roster Changes

SMITE 2 brings back fan-favorite gods with reworked abilities and new mechanics, but not everyone has made the cut—at least not yet. The current roster is smaller than SMITE 1’s massive selection, which may frustrate players who are used to their favorite picks. That said, the redesigned gods feel more dynamic and rewarding to play, hinting at a bright future as more deities are added over time.

Matchmaking & Servers

Matchmaking is currently a weak point, with long queue times and questionable skill balancing in ranked matches. Additionally, server stability is inconsistent, leading to occasional lag spikes and disconnects. Given that the game is still in its early stages, these issues are somewhat expected, but they do impact the overall experience.

Monetization & Progression

SMITE 2’s monetization model is a hot topic. While the game remains free-to-play, some aspects of its progression and battle pass system feel more aggressive than before. The shift in currency and unlock methods has left some players frustrated, particularly those hoping for more rewards without heavy investment.

Final Verdict

SMITE 2 has a solid foundation with its improved visuals, refined mechanics, and engaging combat, but it’s not without flaws. Performance issues, balance concerns, and a smaller god roster hold it back from being a true leap forward. That said, Hi-Rez Studios has a history of iterating on their games over time, so there's hope that SMITE 2 will continue to evolve into something truly special.

Current Rating: 7/10 Worth Playing? Yes, but expect some growing pains.

SMITE 2 Review (Excellent successor)

I had the opportunity to discover Smite 1 many years ago thanks to my friends and since then I have developed a love and liking for the game, it was the first MOBA which poor and after 850 hours I can give a review of the successor SMITE 2

Requirements

SMITE 2 is not a demanding game if we talk about requirements, an example of that is how I can play it with the following characteristics

CPU: I5-3570K

GPU: RX 570 4GB

Ram: 16 GB DDR3 dual channel

The storage is small since it only takes up 16GB, you can even have it on HDD

With my PC I can play on Medium without FSR at 60 FPS at 1080p, which shows how well optimized the game is and how you can play it without needing a PC with high-end components.

Gameplay

SMITE 2 is a third-person MOBA with a variety of maps and game modes that allows for a variation of different games each time you play even if it is the same mode thanks to the amount in constant increase of the number of characters, in this case gods to choose to play with them, each god has their role which are: Support, Solo, Middle, Jungle, Carry. The gods are subdivided into these roles during a game, but the fact that a god is a support does not mean that he cannot play another role, this is possible thanks to the great variety of items in the game with which you can create various builds for all the gods, this is thanks to the fact that the game allows creativity of builds

An example of this is the character of Ymir who is a Support, however thanks to her passive and certain items she can be in another role such as jungler or solo since she can do massive damage.

The gameplay is fluid, fun and addictive, the variety of game modes allows you to not get bored, since you can play really intense games as well as play relaxing ones and just for fun. Apart from this, each god is original in its own way and their unique abilities allow you to never get used to a way of playing.

Graphics

Graphically the game is beautiful and has excellent performance thanks to using UE 5, which allows good quality even at the minimum graphical settings that the game allows, Large maps with structures and a variety of jungle monsters alongside the gods and their abilities make every moment in the game a constant visual delight in the face of so many things

It has accessibility for color blindness in case of using it as well as many other settings which you can adapt to improve your game without harming the graphic quality at any time, It is very customizable

SMITE 1 vs SMITE 2

The improvements in the game are noticeable from the start, improvements that in every sense always represent a positive change with respect to the future.

- The graphical change and performance improvement are highly noteworthy.

- Changing the use of items by not limiting them and allowing any character to use any build was a good change.

- Much more constant updates than in Smite 1, with new gods, gameplay changes and fixes

- Changes to maps with monsters, jungle and some game modes that in my opinion give more fun

- Changes to the HUD, menu and interface which are a nice change

- Changes in gameplay and gods that allow fights to be more interesting and varied than before

Conclusion

SMITE 2 has proven to be a great successor to the previous game, proving that it can be much more in the future and thanks to the constant changes and support of the community it will undoubtedly achieve great things, A game which I recommend playing alone or in a group and which I will continue to play for a long time.
